The Mouse Became Enemies
In this essay I will be explaining the similarities and the differences in the stories. The stories I will be comparing and contrasting are “The Legend of The Cat and The Rat” and “How The Cat and The Mouse became Enemies”. Both of these stories are set in China. In this paragraph I will be explaining the plots these two stories. The plot of “How The Cat and The Mouse became Enemies”. In this story it begins with the two animals being good friends. Then one day the mouse decides to ask the cat if he will go to a village with him. “In this village there is a lot of food”, says the mouse, “There are also lots of fish in this village.” So cat agrees to go with mouse. They must cross the river in a pumpkin as a boat because cat does not like water. Then the mouse gets hungry during the journey and begins to eat the boat. The cat then wakes up and thinks mouse was trying to drown the cat. This is how the cat and the mouse became enemies. …show more content…
The emperor decides to have a very large race with all the animals in the land. Rat hears this and asks cat if he wants to join. Cat agrees but he says, “ we will be among the smallest creatures in the race.” So rat comes up with a plan to ride on top of a water buffalo to get in the lead. While the two animals are crossing the river rat thinks, “If I jump off and run to the end I can easily come in first.” But then he realizes that if cat notices him running to the finish he could easily outrun rat. Rat then decides to make cat jump into the water because cat cannot swim. So rat wakes up cat and says, “ Look at all of those fish, you would have enough time to catch one and still be able to finish the race.” While cat is looking down trying to catch a fish rat shoves him into the water and begins to race towards the finish line. Cat realizes what rat did and is mad at him. This is why the cat and the rat are

Once I had interpreted the problem, I attempted different strategies of crossing the river while keeping in mind that the cat could not be left alone with the dog or the mouse. So first I tried taking the cat over first then crossed back over to get the dog and then the mouse. This led to an obstacle since the dog or mouse was left alone with the cat which led to fighting or trying to eat the one another. I then tried taking the mouse over first but this led to the same problem, it left the dog and cat alone.…

When I saw the problem, I first thought it was not going to be possible to solve. Meaning; that I would not solve this problem without more information. When I sent the cat over first the mouse and dog did not fight by their selves. Then whenever I sent the dog or mouse over, they would fight with the cat. I even thought about leaving the cat on the existing shore and trying to move the mouse and dog, and found that the cat fought with them there on the existing shore. My thoughts then were that there had to be a trick to this. I had a conceptual block and knew there was something else to the problem that was not mentioned in the writing [ (Morris & Maisto, 2002) ].…
