outside to give the gift to her father.
The Indian man fired his gun off at the same time the Spanish mans daughter jumped on him to protect him. The Spanish man screams horrifically thinking that his daughter had been shot. Surprisingly the Indian mans daughter had loaded the gun with all blanks before she gave the gun to him. The Spanish man realized his daughter had not been shot and expeditiously took her in the house. I selected this scene because when you look at the conflict between these two characters it’s very interesting. You have one character that is not mad and very calm. (the Spanish man) You then have the other one who is very angry. (the Indian man) The Spanish man tried to help the Indian man earlier in the movie but the Indian man was so mad at everything else that was going on around that he did not notice. Then he was tried to do the worst and kill the Spanish man for something that he did not do. This scene is powerful because at one point you really thought the Spanish man was going to get killed and you did not want that for his character, then the daughter get into to the picture and it really looks bad. Then the gun was filled with blanks! Get sequence of …show more content…
events. The portrayal of the criminal justice and law enforcement is good and bad. You have police officers that had made there way through the ranks and would not stand up for what was right because of the attention it would bring them. You have officers who clearly used there power for the wrong reasons. Even the policemen who you thought was good did some thing shady by the end of the movie. The policemen that were wrong in the start of the movie flipped and tried to do some right. The cop pulled the couple over and overly searched and harassed a woman in front of her husband was a clear example of poor policing, poor administration of justice, abuse of discretion, and injustice.
There was no reason for him to ask the man to get out of the car let alone search them, and to my knowledge a man police officer should never search a female. The cops partner could he said something but he just stood there while his partner broke the law and the poor supervision. He made up for it with quality police work when he let the man go days later with a warning when he clearly could have arrested him. Another man in the movie was involved in criminal conduct such as stealing cars and car jacking. Funny thing is he was heroic in saving some Asian slaves that he found in a van that he
stole. In the text it states that the police can not search the car or ask you get out the car without good reason. In the movie they did not live by that rule when they harassed the man and his wife. In the My favorite character in this movie was played by rapper “Ludacris” because his character was just funny and entertaining. His character was a big contradiction. He will rob somebody but he just won’t rob a black person. He will live in the so called hood but will not ride a bus. He is just funny. This film is relevant to the study of criminal justice because it shows u both sides of what is going on in the system. You get a clear picture of how the citizens feel as well has the cops. This film most defiantly would open your mind to criminal law. The common theme in this movie would have to be redemption for the wrongs that you do. Just like how the cops wanted to save to woman at the end of the movie to redeem him for the wrongs. When the other cop redeemed himself and let the man go with a warning when he took a chase with the police. When Ludacris let the slaves go free and gave them some money. One of the main things I learned from this movie is until we get rid of these racial boundaries and judgments our streets and justice system will always be unbalanced between good and bad. One of the things that surprised me about this movie if how many different angle of undertones racial issues are in this world. This movie made a lot of statements.
