government didn’t allow for those who are non-white to have the same privileges as whites. Not only does the lack of resources plays apart of all African American individuals who struggle for wages but the topic of mass incarceration.
Through out the film it is seen that the policing is only done within the Black and urban communities. Daily the police are ready to place black men within the system. You can see this through the characters of Gabe, who is mentally challenged, the police constantly try to throw him in jail for “disturbance”, although he isn’t doing anything harmful to the community. This film shows that the white communities and government system was created to keep the privileged, privilege and the deprived,
deprived. Within the film Troy Maxson, was left to take care of his family to the best of his ability, as working as a garbage man. That was the only job he could obtain and has obtain since he has been out of jail. Due to the lack of his ability to read and the inequalities of his race has left him to provide the best way he can for his family. Providing for his family and keeping a roof over their heads was the only importance Troy had and the only expectations he had for his own children as the grew older. Troy’s youngest son Cory, played football and was suppose to get recruited by a college. But because Troy didn’t have that chance and only seen the world from dark point of view; he denied Cory of the chance of a better living. Through the course of the film Troy demands that he should be paid the same pay as the whites and to be able to hold the dame types of job of whites within the company. He then opposes the Labor Union, which later he received higher pay. Along with the higher pay, he also gains the new job position as the first African American Truck Driver for the company without the ability to read or having a driver license. They characters of the film now understand that they can do better and gain opportunities once they knew better. But as of now they will continue to build their “fences” to protect everything they have and everyone on they love from those who are out to get them (the economy, life and the government
