As stated in Jakob’s Story, Holocaust survivors suffered negative outcomes due to the fact victims were often abused. Jakob says that in Concentration camps, Jews were treated like animals. Jakob says, “We were beaten and abused constantly.” (Blankity Paragraph 8) The quote states that since Holocaust survivors were beaten constantly, they could have scars, which will remind survivors of the past. This supports the main idea in that it tells you how much, and badly, Jews were abused. Nevertheless, what the Nazis did to the Jews were horrifying, and survivors were scarred for life.

In consideration that the Gestapo knew everyone and had control over everyone, citizens were afraid to do or say anything to anyone. In “The Gestapo is born”, it states, “Anyone foolish enough to say something risky or tell an anti-Nazi joke in the mixed company might get a knock on the door in the middle of the night or a tap on the shoulder while talking along in the street.” (The Gestapo is Born, Paragraph 14) The quote states that citizens lived in fear and couldn’t live their normal lives.
