Computers, telephones, cars, television---all these gadgets and inventions have only just come about within the past century. Being such recent additions to society, people surely survived before their creation; sadly, there are rarely any people today that understand what that was like. Hardly ever are people not on their smartphones anymore, whether they’re texting their friends, looking something up, or using social media. Whatever the reason, people are constantly relying on technology to do something for them nowadays. The author Ray Bradbury emphasizes this in his short stories, “The Pedestrian” ,“The Veldt”, and “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains”, where the main characters rely so heavily on their technologically innovative houses to feed, entertain, and aid them in their daily lives that all the outcomes are anything but positive. Negative consequences like these aren’t fictional like most of the components of Bradbury’s stories, though; scientists have already found many…

Neanderthals have long thought to be lesser than modern humans in many ways, such as intelligence, wit, appearance, and ways of life; however, this is not entirely the case. The first Neanderthal discovered was in the Neander Valley of Germany, where part of a skull and limb bones were present (“Neanderthals | Evolution | Earth Facts,” n.d.). Although this is not the oldest Neanderthal skeleton ever found, it was the first and it led to the discovery and understanding of a whole new species. This species was known to us as Homo sapien neanderthalensis, or for those who believe the differences to be so vast that it should be its own distinct species, Homo neanderthalensis (O’Neil, 2010). Homo (sapien) neanderthalensis and Homo sapiens lived side by side for thousands of years (O’Neil, 2010), but it is speculated that it was because of the advanced nature of Homo sapiens which allowed them to strive and eventually outlive the Neanderthals. Although the Neanderthals eventually became extinct and Homo sapiens strived, there are many similarities in both appearance and behaviour that suggest that perhaps the few differences that exist between the two were the difference that allowed for one species to prevail while the other faded out.…

The next poem for today's reading by Robert Kroetsch is Seed Catalogue. This poem is interesting since it is broken up into ten different sections. Along with each section there is a small narrative given to the reader and a question before most of the poems. In regards to the movements of the sentences are there only certain sections you would consider to be poems? Or is this as a whole, one long poem that connects under the same idea?…

In this report I will discuss the impact of electronic information on individuals and society. I am going to talk about how the ways people access information has changed and how new technologies have played a part in this. Firstly I will talk about how increased availability of electronic information has changed mine and my family’s daily lives. Then I'll consider how this has affected the older generation, in particular, the elderly. After that, I’ll explore some of the ways organisations these days communicate with individuals and society, and finally I'll talk about people who do not have access or don't want to have access to the internet and the possible consequences of this.…

Technology and social networking sites may seem to be the best invention yet, however not only do they cause people to become anti-social, they also cause psychological disorders to occur. Technology is great to use for various things including communication. However, people have chosen to take full advantage of it, and now it just might be backfiring on some of them. In older days when there was only television, movies, radio, and magazines, people seemed to be more involved with their family and friends opposed to technology. The older media rapidly started changing into newer digital media such as Internet, social networking sites, MP3 players, and “smart” mobile phones. This is when people started becoming more and more caught up in this new technology. Scientists have linked the use of technology with various health problems. Over time, doctors began to notice many more people developing psychological disorders such as eating disorders. Even though people believe that technology is one of the best inventions, everyone must be aware of any and all effects that it may have on him or her.…

Most people say that as time advances so does technology. These advances in technology come at a cost. While technology has been developing, types of technology have been slowly eroding many aspects of our society and how people conduct themselves in social situations. Technology has also led to a decline in education and how people, in particular, students, gain knowledge. On a broad scale technology has both assisted law enforcement and, at the same time, led to the creation of new types of crimes and how old crimes are committed. Finally, technology has had a negative impact on the physical build of people, particularly in the United States. Though technology has assisted society in many good ways, most advances come at a cost which is slowly rising. These costs have a negative impact on many aspects of everyday life.…

In the past 20 years people have become more and more dependent on technology as time goes on. Computers were invented, and we use them for almost everything, in fact almost every job in the united states requires the use of a computer. With computers comes the internet as well, no longer do students have to research in libraries, or even go to class for that matter. Why? It’s all online. We also have cell phones, and the more recent invention of the smart phone. Smart phones have almost become a permanent part of people’s lives, some people even claim that they cannot live without theirs. Some would say that as a society we have become almost overly dependent upon technology. Others would even go on to say that our dependency upon technology has caused huge repercussions on our society.…

There are generally two types of trials, criminal and civil. The hierarchy of courts begins from the Magistrates’ Court, Sessions Court, High Court, Court of Appeal, and finally, the Federal Court. The jurisdiction of the courts in civil or criminal matters are contained in theSubordinate Courts Act 1948 and the Courts of Judicature Act 1964. Article 121 of the Constitution provides for two High Courts of coordinate jurisdiction, the High Court in Malaya, and the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak. Thus this creates two separate local jurisdiction of the courts – for Peninsular Malaysia and for East Malaysia. The highest position in the judiciary of Malaysia is the Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Malaysia (also known as the Chief Justice of Malaysia), followed by the President of the Court of Appeal, the Chief Judge of Malaya, and the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak. The superior courts are the High Court, Court of Appeal, and the Federal Court, while the Magistrates’ Courts and the Sessions Courts are classified as subordinate courts.…
