The Nurse in Romeo and Juliet mask analytical paragraph The nurse in the Shakespearean play “Romeo and Juliet” mask resembles a variety of different symbols,meanings and traits. The symbols present in the mask represents being an advisor,loyal,news porter and Contradictor .The nurse display these characteristics throughout the scenes of the play and appears as an helpful advisor for Juliet.Which was represented in the mask as a danger sign. For example in act 3 scene 5 while speaking to Juliet the nurse states“Romeo is banished and all the world to nothing ...I think it is best you married with the country ,O he's a lovely gentleman.”(3.5.171) Here ,the nurse shows the audience that she is an helpful advisor to Juliet because she advices her to marry the appropriate and gentle groom
Paris ,other than Romeo who is in her own words “Banished”. Another major characteristic of the nurse is her ultimate loyalty to Juliet,which is represented in the mask by the Japanese Kanji symbol,as the kanji symbol is the symbol of locality in Asia. For example ,in Act 2 scene 5 when the nurse is offering the opportunity to defy her parent she says“Your love says, like an honest gentleman, and a courteous, and a kind, and a handsome, and, I warrant, a virtuous— Where is your mother?”.(2.5.107)This shows that the nurse's ultimate loyalty is only to the girl she raised (Juliet ),even if this was at the expense of
