When The Fabulous Freebirds first came to the ring with rock and roll blasting, it was revolutionary. When Vince McMahon got Cindy Lauper and MTV to cross-promote their programming it was groundbreaking. For every hit moment like those in rock and wrestling, there are plenty of flops. The Simon Cowell produced "Slam Jam" can barely be considered music and still somehow managed to hit the UK charts. Looking back, "Rap is Crap" made the otherwise lovable Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig look like an out-of-touch, redneck tool. At WrestleMania XIX, Limp Bizkit got Roman Reigns level boos from the crowd who were generally sick of their repetitive, whiny nu metal. Even on a personal level wrestlers and rock musicians have clashed. Motley Crue drummer Tommy…

With higher risk of gang brutality and homicide, many children, teenagers, and families are choosing to leave their countries and seek asylum in the United States. For example; July, a 32 year old woman dealing with the violence in her town alongside her three children. “For eight years, July’s family has been struggling with the gang and narco-cartel violence that has overtaken many areas of her country. Many times adults, parents, or teachers bend the truth to protect a child’s emotions and innocence. In the following poems, “A Barred Owl” by Richard Wilbur and “The History Teacher” by Billy Collins, both poets state a situation where an adult provides an explanation for a child by withholding the truth. Nevertheless, both poets use rhyme scheme, tone, and detail to execute their point.…
Prose exposes numerous straw man arguments with To Kill a Mockingbird. Prose critiques the novel in a confident, yet slightly harsh manner. She believes that the novel could’ve been different if there was just a bit more detail. Prose interprets To Kill a Mockingbird in a way that focuses on prejudice and racism.…
The best reward to hiking was always the food. We made time to eat at Dave’s BBQ, which was fantastic. I had pulled pork, french fries and sweet tea. The pork melted in my mouth. The funniest part was none of us had showered in more than 4 days. I’m sure we smelled like Wombats. Others eating that night were staring and scrunched their noses at us. It was obvious we were the only ones coming off a trail.…
It was just my friend and I in the woods. I took everything I needed for my trip, not knowing how long it would take. We packed a knife, matches, sleeping bag, water proof gear, a tent, pots and pans, walkie talkies, money, food, water, summer gear, winter gear, a GPS, and a dog.…
In the essay, "The Bothersome Beauty of Pigeons," Bruce Ballenger initially compares the street vendors in one of Florence's piazzas to the urban pigeons we are so familiar with. He elogently describes the vendors as marvelous spectacles who add culture and life to urban areas. While they are considered a neusance to a lot of people, they also hold a certain beauty. They are much like the pigeons, and there seems to be a war against both the illegal street vendors and the city pigeon. It is a war where there are no hearts involved. The police almost turn a blind eye toward the illegal act of vending without a liscense, much like the average person tolerates the pigeon. I think that Ballenger's main idea for his essay is exploring the paradoxical feelings that we can get from things that are bothersome yet beautiful, specifically the pigeon. Ballenger might have originally asked himself, Why, if pigeons are such a neusance, are people still so facinated and enchanted by the creatures?…
“I love you!” But by the time I looked back my mother was gone. I knew she was just trying to get me away from her when she said “go hide, let’s play hide and seek.” A few minutes later I realized why she had me hide, there was a group of mean soldiers chasing her on massive, muscular horses, but I knew most of the horses the soldiers were riding, they used to be in my herd but they went missing, they used to be so beautiful and free now they are machines used to catch more wild horses.…
