In this class, we read different epic tales and watched one considered to be a modern day epic tale. Each story had a “hero” who proceeded on a journey to find their happily ever after. In the Odyssey, we meet Odysseus who takes 25 years to get home. We meet Dante from Inferno who is trying to get to heaven. Finally, we meet Arthur who becomes king of Camelot due to a sword in a stone. Three episodes that teach us life lessons are watching Odysseus patiently waits for the perfect chance to reveal himself in the palace and how brave he is, when Arthur saw Guinevere and Lancelot in the forest, and from Dante, we see how temptations can throw human beings of the right path.

He was born because of a magical disguise placed on his father, Uther, by Merlin the magician. Taken right after birth, he was raised by a lord and his family. Being somewhat brain-dead as a squire to his brother, he forgets the sword for the joust and pulls Excalibur from the stone therefore naming him king. Fast forward a little bit, Arthur is now a man, king, and to be wed to Guinevere, who he fell in love with. Guinevere has fallen for Lancelot, Arthur’s knight. Arthur sees them in the forest after having slept together. He drew Excalibur to kill them but didn’t. I find that to be the greatest strength ever. Your wife and trusted friend cheat behind your back and you do nothing but leave the sword in the forest for them to find. Only a great hero would be able to hold himself or herself from killing
