The Old Testament is the New Testament Concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament Revealed
THE OLD IS IN THE NEW CONCEALED It is said that, the Old Testament is the New Testament Concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament Revealed because one cannot appreciate the New Testament without an understanding of the Old Testament. It lays the ground work for the redemption Jesus brought. The coming of Jesus Christ to redeem the world from the bondage of sin was not an afterthought. God revealed His plans of sending a redeemer called the Messiah through the prophets. The prophecies on the birth, death and resurrection of the Messiah were written in the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New Testament. The book of Matthew contains the most number of fulfilled prophecies that any other book in the New Testament. In the opening chapter of the book (Matthew), he traced the genealogy of Jesus back to Abraham to whom God made a covenant for the rise of a nation that will be blessed through him. Genesis 18:19. Moreso, the place of birth was foretold. Micah 5:2 “but you, o Bethelehem of Ephirathat, who are little to be among the clans of Judah; from you shall come forth for me are who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from the old from ancient days” and this was fulfilled in the book of Matthew 2:1 “now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the King”…… According to the book of Daniel 9:25, the birth of Jesus was foretold “know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the world to restore and built Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks….” And this was fulfilled in the New Testament in the book of Luke 2:11 “for to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, whom is Christ the Lord|” Three men from the East anxiously awaited the fulfillment of the great prophecy, having gotten the knowledge of the birth of the Messiah from Daniel, a prophet who was held capture in the kingdom of Babylon Daniel 9:25.
