    The Patriot was about man name Benjamin Martin who was once was a French and Indian war hero, is a patriot who does not want to fight in the war against Britain. Benjamin has seven children and raised them by himself after his wife passed away. They lived in South Carolina. His oldest son name Gabriel enlistes in the army and, when South Carolina goes to war with Britain, he is involved. Colonel Tavington, the enemy had come to South Carolina with the .Gabriel comes back to his house during the war to get help because he was injured. The next day all the red coats were at Benjamin house to capture his son Gabriel because they said he was a spy and was going to be hanged . Thomas the other son tries to save him but is shot and dies right in front of the family. To get revenge, Benjamin enlists in the fight to help gain independence for the thirteen colonies. Benjamin helps get a new army together to defeat the British with Officer Colonel Harry Burwell. They had used to keep the British in the south guerrilla warfare. French Major Jean Villeneuve helps train the militia and promises more French aid. Benjamin's militia harasses British supply lines, capture goods - including some of Cornwallis' belongings - and burn half the bridges and ferries leading to Charleston. This had caused Tavington to grow angry because it was killing all his troops. Tavington finds out the group who had did this to his group and gets revenge by getting his troops to kill each of the militia member’s family.…

    Benjamin Martin a widowed country man from the state of South Carolina owned a plantation and had 6 children. He was a veteran of the French and Indian war and was called to Charleston to vote in the South Carolina General Assembly on the topic of the continental army. He was against war joined the loyalist, and voted against the issues but as fate would have it the supporting vote overruled him. His eldest son Gabriel joined the continentals, against his father’s wishes. His plantation came under attack during the American Revolutionary War when his son Gabriel returned home injured, carrying dispatches. Being kind hearted Martin cared for both the American and British wounded soldiers. When Colonel William Tavington arrived and arrested Gabriel, Martin’s son Thomas interferes and is shot ruthlessly by Tavington. Tavington orders the place to be burned and all the American soldiers to be killed. This enraged Martin causing him and his two sons go after the British to save Gabriel. He ambushed the British convoy and rescued Gabriel. This labeling him as “The Ghost” Gabriel and Benjamin join a local militia and fight against the British. His militia killed countless men and was a very strong force. Tavington found out about this and went on a rampage killing all the families and burning down the home of everyone is this militia. Gabriel’s wife was killed by Tavington which caused Gabriel to attack him without proper reinforcement. Gabriel was killed by Tavington and dies in his father’s arms. In the last fight of the war Martin finally gets revenge and kills Tavington and returns home to rebuild his life with his children.…

This movie was an intentional deviation from fact and a mish mash of similar event surrounding that time simply for entertainment value. The movie provided just enough shock and awe, i.e. the church scene, to make one feel upset and outraged that such a thing could have ever happened in this country.     The Patriot is a 2000 American historical war film. The film mainly takes place in York County, South Carolina. The movie depicts a story of an American who is swept into the American Revolutionary War when his family is threatened. Benjamin Martin, one of the main figures, is based on four real American Revolutionary heroes being: Andrew Pickens, Francis Marion, Daniel Morgan, and Thomas Sumter. In the movie, Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson), a veteran of the French and Indian War and widower with seven children, is called to Charleston to vote in the South Carolina General Assembly on a levy supporting the Continental Army. Benjamin decides to abstain for the fear of a war against Great Britain. Some years later, Benjamin is given the rank of colonel to lead the local colonel militia. Benjamin’s militia harass British supply lines, capture goods, and burn half the bridges and ferries leading to Charleston. Cornwallis blames Tavington for creating these reactions and allows Tavington to do whatever is necessary to stop Benjamin’s militia. Tavington then starts to attack family members of the militia and burn their homes. Tavington assembles all of the townspeople of the village of Wakefield into their church, promising to free them if they give up the secret location of the hideout. When the let loose of the secret, the church doors are barricaded, trapping all of the townspeople inside, and the church is burned down. When Gabriel, one of Benjamin’s sons, gets word of what Tavington had done to the townspeople, he races to attack Tavington. Gabriel had thought to have mortally wounded Tavington, but it turned out that Tavington was faking. Tavington murdered Gabriel by stabbing him through his heart. Benjamin’s militia, along with a larger Continental Army, confront Cornwallis in battle. Benjamin gets revenge of his sons’ death by killing Tavington in the battle. The battle ended up to be a Continental victory and Cornwallis is forced to retreat.…
