The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton: Summary

The author of The Outsiders is S.E Hinton. Ponyboy is a sweet, caring 14 year old boy who is in a gang called The Greasers. He lives with his two brothers Sodapop and Darrel. The Greasers live on the East side and the Socs live on the West side. Johnny, Pony, Darry fight for something they believe in that brings purpose to their lives. Johnny had killed Bob in the park one night and Ponyboy was with him Ponyboy sticks with everyone no matter what he is very dependable., they were going to be in big trouble if we didn’t run away. They ran to Dally and he gave us money and told us where to stay. They found the abandoned church, days passed and when they were coming back to the church after Dally checked up on us, it was in flames. Pony asked someone “What happened?” Both ran up to it and Johnny and Pony sprinted inside to save the children inside. Johnny was crushed by a beam trying to get out of the church.
Randy had stopped Pony in the streets to tell him that the fighting was useless and didn’t want to fight in the Rumble because no matter what “Greasers will be Greasers”. Out of friendship Randy had visited Ponyboy which was sweet however he wasn’t feeling well, when he was in the hospital which introduced the topic of of him not wanting to be in any of the violence. Randy talks to Pony about he “Regrets ever being involved in any of the violence because of the impact of his father, he believes that he is disappointed in him”.
