Withdrawing from the Paris Agreement would be a big mistake for the American government because staying in the agreement will most likely be costless, but withdrawing will probably provoke outrage from all over the world. It just is not worth it. The US does not have to leave the Paris agreement if the Trump Administration does not want to obligate themselves to make any levels of emissions cuts because the Paris agreement has no major allegations for the Unites States authority and it does not require particular policy balance between environmental and industrial concerns. The Trump administration could just modify the United States’ current pledge to lower its greenhouse gas emissions instead of withdrawing from the Paris agreement altogether. The Trump administration is making a big deal out of nothing and making the Paris agreement seem more complicated than it actually is. The decline of emissions has been successful so far because during the Obama administration, emissions have decreased by 14 percent between 2005 and 2016, which is halfway towards its goal. The work to decline carbon emissions have been doing a good job, so why should it stop now? President Trump not only wants to withdraw from the Paris agreement, but he wants to get rid of a lot of Obama’s climate plans and environmental protection actions.
