The budget for ́The Avengers ́, 220 million dollars, was a lot more than ́V for Vendetta ́ which had a budget of 54 million dollars. ́The Avengers ́ cost a lot more because Robert DowneyJr., was paid almost $50 million for his work on ́The Avengers ́. The movie, American Sniper, has definitely been one of the most anticipated and controversial films of 2014. The movie is directed by Clint Eastwood, and stars Bradley Cooper. This movie tells the unique and complicated story of former navy seal, Chris Kyle. Chris Kyle is mostly known as the most lethal sniper in U.S military history. Chris had 160 confirmed kills in total of all of his tours of duty. Unfortunately, Chris Kyle was killed at a gun range by a former marine who had a history of mental illness. Chris Kyle released a book called “American Sniper,” which later developed into a film. The movie was made in memory of him and to tell his story. This movie is a very touching war film. The care and passion that was put into this movie is clearly shown through the acting, cinematography, realistic war scenes, and dedication from the actors. This movie not only speaks to those who loved Chris Kyle, but also to those who have family members serving or have served in the U.S. Military. Clint Eastwood makes sure that those who served are properly respected and honored for their service. This is why the movie is a great film…
The Japanese officers had sat down to eat when they realized one of their own was gone. One of them left in search for “Gandhi”. He was found sitting, shirtless, in a dark room, planning on how to destroy Pearl Harbor using planes and torpedoes.…
The Mission was released in 1986 by producers Fernando Ghia and David Puttnam assisted by director Roland Joffé. Some of the actors consisted of Robert De Niro as Rodrigo Mendoza, the main protagonist, and Jeremy Irons as Father Gabriel. The movie, as a whole, I enjoyed very much. The character development in the beginning caught my attention and didn’t leave me constantly drifting off as other films might have. In the movie, Jesuit missionaries are trying to protect a native tribe they had converted to Christianity from Portugal who wanted to enslave the natives for their own use. Rodrigo Mendoza had to go through trials before he accepted his position as a Jesuit priest after he was given the choice by Father Gabriel…
As exciting as the sound of bugle calls us to arms, the Patriot, directed by Roland Emmerich, earns people’s hearts by its attractive and enthralling plot of the epic of a South Carolinian planter and widower Benjamin Martin(played by Mel Gibson) fighting the ruthless and brutal British dragoon captain called William Tavington(played by Jason Isaacs). A father of seven children, Martin is one of the British army during the French-Indian War, but with the tension evoked between America and Britain, and the unfortunate deaths of his two sons, Martin is determined to fight a bloody battle against the British in American Revolution. In general, the movie is attractive and heart-stirring, yet the actions of characters are so inaccurate, making the viewers to experience the illogical exaggeration combined with excitement.…
The Patriot is a film about the Revolutionary War. It was directed by Roland Emmerich and starred Mel Gibson as well as Heath Ledger and Joely Richardson. It has had three Oscar Award nominations and has won ten other awards. When the film was released it received much attention, criticism, and controversy, mostly for its historical accuracy (Glancy, Mark). The film The Patriot is not historically accurate because of the depiction of British soldiers, the way in which people saluted in the film, and the way in which Benjamin Martin was depicted.…
In “The Patriot”, the tactics of war used by the British Army differ significantly from those used by the American rebels. The British based war and victory on honor. If a battle is not won properly, it might as well have not been won at all. Benjamin Martin, the leader of the rebels, identifies the pride of the British as their weakness. The American rebels based war on victory itself and concentrated their efforts in simply defeating the British. Their sole objective is to win; they did not have the luxury of being “civil” in their war tactics. This contrast is shown very well in several scenes from the movie.…
There are many differences and similarities in the book and movie Our America. The book and the movie Our America is a story about two best friends, both teenagers named LeAlan and Lloyd. They went throughout their neighborhood recording everything that happens in their daily life and what happens in their neighborhood on a daily basis. The reason it is called Our America is because they want to show the readers “their America” in the ghetto. I think that the book and the movie version of Our America have more differences than similarities.…
The Patriot was a Hollywood version for the story of Francis Marion and the Swamp fox. The swamp fox was a group of men who fought the British Army using Guerrilla warfare. "Marion and his irregulars often defeated larger bodies of British troops by the surprise and rapidity of their movement over swampy terrain". 2 The Hollywood version of the Swamp fox was quite close; the main Character Benjamin Martin was the leader of a group similar to the Swamp fox. The members of this group destroyed some British arm supplies line by using "hit and hide" method. There were many inaccurate information and flaws in The Patriot. Killing the Prisoner of war like in the Patriot never occurred. Both the American Solider and the British army obeyed the laws of war. There are no records about British army put people in churches and burn them. The Patriot gives us an impression that the war was solely a war between the colonists and the British army. Only one American…
Sister James and Sister Aloysius play a very important role in John Patrick Shanley’s movie Doubt, which is about the mistrust that takes place in a school directed by the church on priest Flynn command. There, sister Aloysius is the principal, so she is in charge of the student’s rights and responsibilities. On the other hand Sister James is a history teacher. Both characters are important for their way of handling the doubt.…
I choose Forrest Gump as a historical movie. The movie was about a young man with a mental disability that goes through this major event in the 1960 – 1970s not only that but it was kind of romantic. Though out the entire movie, Forrest seems to be going along with the time line in his life looking for his first true love Jenny. Mean while she is living it out as a hippie tagging along with the wrong crowd and as for Forrest he maintains hope that one day she will love him. Not only that but the events that he lived in leads him to become a war hero and a billionaire. In the end he realize that life keeps on going as a “destiny or floating alike a breeze”.…
The movie Twelve Angry Men is about the twelve jurors that could adjust their influence in a decision-making process for conviction an eighteen years-old boy, whether the boy guilty or not guilty in murdering of his father. It represents a perfect example for applicable of a work group development framework. It also has examples of influence techniques among a group’s members. This paper is looking at those specific examples in the movie and focusing in analysis the reasons why Juror 8 is so much more effective than others in the meeting.…
