In The Perfect Bride, a story by Dandin, Saktikumara says "There is no happiness without a wife†(Dandin). In various cultures, marriage has always been a must. For a man to be complete, he must have a wife. The same goes for the women. If a woman was without a husband, it showed that she was either unworthy, or incapable of carrying out the duties of a wife. In Saktikumara 's culture, others usually chose a man 's wife. He was not very fond of this idea, so he decided to search for a wife on his own. He looked for a girl who was perfect in his eyes. A girl who was very capable of doing what she was told in the appropriate manner. To test the girls ' capabilities, he brought along two pounds of unthreshed rice. In his eyes, the perfect wife would be able to make a complete meal with only these two pounds of rice. After some time, he found a girl who indeed, made a complete meal for him. He took her with him and made her his wife.
To Saktikumara, he was not complete without this woman. Although she was treated badly by him, she never complained. …show more content…
In the future, people need to look at the sacrifices that have been made, and respect all of the women who put up with these terrible things. Over the past century, women have been given many more rights than they have ever had in the past, and this should be carried on for centuries to come. One day, male dominance will be a thing of the past, as it should
