The Perfect Holiday
Today is my birthday and I'm on holiday with my parents. We had been on the plane for three hours, then we had been on what seemed to be the longest journey ever, to the ski-resort in the French Alps.

As I went downstairs to breakfast, I looked out of the windows and saw the mountains beaming at me. I felt the butterflies fluttering in my stomach.

Mum and Dad were already eating breakfast, Mum had orange juice, apparently she's on another diet. "Happy Birthday Anna" they cheered in unison. I had totally forgotten it was my birthday.

The room wasn't very busy, people had left to hit the slopes. Over at the breakfast bar they were serving a whole range of foods, from eggs to pain au chocolate . It was so colourful it looked like a rainbow.

Half an hour later I had finished eating. Rushing out to the door, Dad pulled me back.

"Where do you think you're going? Stop trying to disown us" he chuckled.

Do your parents get on your nerves like mine do? So, I sat down again.

"Why are we waiting?"

"We're waiting because we don't want to get caught in the Cable car rush" Mum sighed.

I sat down again and waited and waited. There was nothing interesting in the room, it all seemed hazy and cosy like my grandparents' living room.

I looked at the clock, it ticked quietly and softly spoke ten 'o' clock.

My parents made a move towards the door, I got up and followed. We went downstairs to reception, where all our equipment was, and went outside.

The steps up to the Cable car were steep, and as we got nearer to the top we could hear a low humming sound getting louder and louder. At the top, three boy's who looked like students, were sorting out where people went. One was sat down smoking a cigarette whilst the other two put people into the cars. Mum was right, there was a big queue. It got smaller and smaller until we were eventually at the front. Like the others we had to pile into the car.

The Cable car was suspended in the air, like a puppet. It slowly began to move up the steep mountain. People who were also in the Cable car, were looking at the view in awe. We couldn't see because we were packed in by other holiday makers.

Suddenly, the Cable car began to slow down, it creaked as though the brakes were old. Most people thought we were at the top but we weren't! Everyone panicked. Then an older boy, who looked fourteen, noticed that only a maximum of twenty-five people were allowed in at a time. He counted. There were thirty of us.

Within a flash, a wire snapped above us. The car began to sway from side to side like a patient on antibiotics falling asleep under the drug. One old lady was in hysterics, shouting about her son; I could feel the lump in my throat. Others were telling each other about how much they loved each other.

"What are we going to do?" I whispered

"I don't know" Mum weeped. I picked up her hand and held it tightly. I was warm and sweaty. I stayed quiet deep in thought, regretting the times when I had been nasty to others. It seemed I wasn't the only one doing this.

Another wire snapped. The Car dropped about an inch. Adults of all kinds jumped up making it fall even more. I could smell burning, but thought nothing of it. I began to cry. I looked at everybody jumping inside this small space, couldn't they see they were making it worse.

"Its going to fall soon" I shouted

Finally people were listening to me, but it was too late. We fell.

We were falling at hundred miles per hour. Some people were squashed against the windows like squatted flies. Probably dead.

Bang. We hit the floor and people automatically cried for help. This was a big mistake. I glanced at my Mum and Dad, all three of us were injured. All over the floor was a thick bright red colour, which looked like paint, but it was blood. Someone had managed to break through the door. We could hear the little sighs off relief. Looking around for any sign of help I noticed a sign saying 'DANGER AVELANCHE ZONE BE QUIET'. Too late the noise was horrendous, people were running down the mountains, birds were flying out of there nests, but the injured couldn't move!

"RUN!" I desperately cried.

Even now people were still in the car, my parents for one, would they be safe? I had no time to find out, without looking back I ran. I saw the car bouncing up and down, rolling past me. Unfortunately, I was too slow the snow had smothered me. A rush of blood went to my head...............every were was black.

I could hear voices where was I. An odd beeping sound was playing in the background. I opened my eyes, I saw this amazing yellow light, it looked like the sun. Closing and Opening my eyes I saw a familiar face was it my Mum?

" Hello Anna" she softly spoke "How are you?"

"O.K." I replied in a gruff tone of voice "where's Dad?"

"Ahh" she stuttered "He's in a coma. When the horror came down the mountain you're Dad fell out of the Cable car and was left for dead. You have been unconscious for two days but Doctors say it could take ages for him to regain consciousness" She began to cry.

Out of the blue I screamed. Probably the shock, but I will never know. A grappling pain went through my body. My Mum gripped my hand tightly as Doctors came to rescue me from the darkness.

"Nnnnnooooooooo" She screamed "Don't leave me.........alone"

Running out the room, she let go off my hand. The Doctors were still there.

Why was this happening to my family? Why? The gloominess took over my mind, I was going. I was gone..................

One warm summer day my family was frantically rushing to gather all our belongings for a week long adventure out west. We were trying our best to squeeze every item in the car; finally we were ready to depart from home. I was just fourteen years of age at the time and had never been more than a few states away. The ride there was beyond exciting, but extra long. I believe most of that was due to the anticipation of when we would finally reach the great state of Colorado.…

The day started off wonderfully. A few of my relatives and I were in Pickwick, Tennessee at my nanny’s lake house for summer vacation. We all woke up to a delicious family breakfast. My nanny woke my cousins and I up just like old times. She walked in the room, sat on the bed and said, “Rise and shine sleeping beauty.” Then of course my grandfather yelled through the house, “Wake your butts up breakfast is getting cold.” We had everything: sunny side eggs, smoked bacon, salty country ham, all kinds of juicy fruit, hot cakes, sugary waffles, and every flavor muffin you could possibly think of. It was so mouth-watering; my taste buds were on a rollercoaster.…
