The Perks Of Being A Wallflower By Stephen Chbosky

“The Perks of being a Wallflower” is a novel written by Stephen Chbosky who talks about the high school life of a boy with some mental issues caused by the death of his best friend and his aunt. The narrator Charlie is an introverted and sensitive boy who is afraid of talking to others in high school. After meeting Sam, Patrick and their friends, Charlie made friends with them and enjoyed his high school time. With the help of his friends, Charlie gradually overcame his fear and shyness. His best friend Patrick described him as a wallflower and said that he sees things; he keeps quiet about them; and he understands.

In this written assignment, I am going to further explore the personalities of Charlie and the changes of him through a letter
which Patrick sent to Charlie after Patrick went to collage. In this letter, Patrick will recall the time with Charlie and thanks for Charlie’s help in the past. The reason for narrating these by Patrick’s letter is that it is better to know someone from different people’s perspectives. Patrick is Charlie’s best friend and he witnesses Charlie’s change from a boy with mental issue to a good friend for all of them. In another word, he is one of the people who knows Charlie best and he can show a real Charlie for us.

Because it is a letter write to a close friend, this written assignment will be a semi-formal letter which shows the sincere friendship among two good friends.
