If we take a look at the Hawaiian Islands, the big island has three active volcanoes. Away from this end, the islands get older and smaller, and beyond the last island marches a long train of undersea mountains. All of the mountains underwater are even older than the ones about the ocean. With plate tectonics, the island chain was seen to be the product of a single "hot spot" fixed in the mantle, punching one volcano after another through the crust as it moves overhead.…

The versatility of PHAs has made them good candidates for the study of their potential in a variety of areas from biomedical/ medical fields to food, packaging, textile and household material. While production costs are still a drawback to wider usage of these biopolymers, their application as low volume high cost items is becoming a reality. The future trend is to focus on the development of more efficient and economical processes for PHA production, isolation, purification and improvement of PHA material properties.…

We also rank fourth in bird endemism, which means that these birds are found only in the Philippines. And we rank fifth in mammal endemism,” Atienza said.Recently, Atienza signed a memorandum of agreement with Palafox Associates, represented by its founder, managing partner and principal architect Felino Palafox, to facilitate the preparation of the NAPWNC conceptual master plan that will include detailed site engineering, landscape architectural design and urban design. The DENR said around 3,000 species of trees that thrive in the country are found in the park, 100 of which are endemic to the country such as narra, molave, kamagong and ipil. As for plant and animal species that cannot thrive…
