The Pigman Summary
SUMMARY OF THE PIGMAN

In the story of the Pigman, it begins where john hates school a lot and I don’t think lorraine really cares if she hates or likes school. According to the first few chapters, it seems like they love each other a bit. They made a L & J Fund program to try and get money from Mr.Pignati. However, later on they regret doing the infantile behavior that they did. John’s avocation is drinking beer, he really likes beers a lot. Overall, after they talked and visited Mr.Pignati, they became really good friends with him.

John and lorraine figure out that pigman has no friends, nobody to talk to, and talks to a baboon in the zoo named bobo. Lorraine’s mother is very strict when meeting men, so she is worried about lorraine when

The 40 developmental assets are experiences and behaviors that shape a young person's adulthood. These assets will lead to how a person grows up and what their future will consist of. The more assets someone has, the more likely they are to have a productive life. These assets also apply to people, who aren’t necessarily actual beings. In the brief novel The Pigman, John Conlan experiences numerous amounts of these assets. This story tells a part of the troubled teenage lives of John and his best friend Lorraine Jensen, and how meeting Mr. Pignati has a large influence on their lives. They deal with the majority of the assets, however a few are more apparent in the story than others. John will become a successful adult because although…

One way responsibility is seen in The Pigman is when John and Lorraine take responsibility for their lies. Well, at the beginning of the book, we learned that John is a frequent liar. He lies to get out of trouble. So he told Mr. Pignati that they are charity workers. Later on in the book, John reveals that him and Lorraine aren't adult charity workers and says, “ We just had to be honest with you because we like you more than anyone we know.” (Zindel 102) That quote showed that John was really starting to care for Mr. Pignati and he didn’t want to live his life on one big lie. In this way, John…

At the Pigman Mr. Pignati had different avocations in the story, like collecting pig which mortified John and Lorraine. In the story, there were also a lot of prevarications because Lorraine had to lie to her mom to go see the Pigman because she wouldn’t have trusted her. The antagonist of the story would have to be Lorraine, in the beginning of the story she didn’t want to go get the money from the Pigman when they called him for the prank they did. I would say that Lorraine mom had a lot of anxiety in the story, she was always worrying about Lorraine and where she was and what she was doing. An ingrate in the story would have to be Norton, it seems like he doesn’t really care about other people's feelings.…

Billy Pig is presented as a man who allows his young teenage son to care for him while he fails to treat his alcoholism: “He still didn’t wake up. That’s why I took a first aid course at school. So I could tell whether her was dead or dead drunk.” The simple sentence ‘he still didn’t wake up’ suggests that Billy could be seen as a lazy teenager who doesn’t want to wake up although, its Martyn who’s the teenager yet has to wake up and take care of his drunken father. The repetition of the adjective ‘dead’ and alliteration of ‘dead drunk’ symbolises the likelihood of Billy getting drunk again and Martyn having to take on the parent role in their relationship once again.…

Lorraine is a significant character in the novel The Pigman by Paul Zindel and had an effect on the theme of loneliness. The theme was that everyone needs a friend or a companion in life and loneliness can greatly affect one's social skills and outlook on life. Lorraine is a prime example of this with her paranoid behaviors, surrendering to peer pressure, and uniqueness that her mother did not approve of. Even though she had her mother and John, the reader could easily tell that she was still lonely and it was affecting her. Before meeting Mr. Pignati, she was nervous and paranoid, easily manipulated in order to fit in and avoid rejection, and acted in ways that caused her to be rejected by her mother.…

In the novel, The Pigman by Paul Zindel, Mr. Pignati Lorraine and John create a relationship. Some aspects of the relationship are healthy whereas some parts are unhealthy. Lorraine and John could both see Mr. Pignati as a substitute-parental figure. John doesn’t get along with his parents and refers to his father as the “Bore”. At one point John even mentions how, “It was great to see how happy Mr. Pignati was to see us. I can’t remember the Bore, or my mother for that matter, ever looking that happy to see me…” John thinks the Pigman likes him better than either of his parents do. Lorraine doesn’t have a father, only a mother. According to the text it seems as if Lorraine’s mother abuses her or abused her in…

Pignati and his wife would do, but they play around with it and turn it into a very childish thing. John growled like a monkey to Lorraine and she was laughing about it, they were having a lot of fun until they realize they weren’t acting anymore. They try being adults by acting like Mr. Pignati and his wife, making dinner, and finally kissing, but the only love that they witnessed was from Mr. and Mrs. Pignati. In the book, chapter 11, page 141, it states, “We each sat at opposite ends of the table with the candles burning away.” John and Lorraine just sit there looking at each other drinking wine and eating their congealed spaghetti like grownups might do when they are having a romantic dinner. They try being adults in this quote and almost make it work, but in the end, they don’t know what to do after this happens. Their parents didn’t take the time giving these kids a good childhood, it’s already affecting them badly, making them tangled on love. They keep going back and forth also because their parents never showed them what love is…

In the story, “The Three Little Pigs,” the theme is sometimes the underdog wins. For example the wolf says, “Little pigs, little pigs let me in.” This is important because it shows how the unknowing and definitely outnumbered wolf underestimated the much weaker pigs. Furthermore, the cocky villain didn’t stop to think that it was possible that the pigs could be smarter than him. Another example of the theme is in the end when the author says, “To get rid of him forever they flushed him down the toilet”. This shows that although the pigs weren't big or strong, they were able to defeat the big and bad wolf. Moreover, in the end it was the “underdog’s” smarts and collaboration that overcame the seemingly stronger competition. Clearly, these quotes…

There are many reasons why John and Lorraine befriended Mr. Pignati. First off, Mr. Pignati was so silly and jovial. John and Lorraine never met an adult who was so full of live and was not so strict and hostile. When Mr. Pignati met them, they couldn’t help but become friends because they wanted to learn more about him. Another reason why the three became acquaintances was that John and Lorraine enjoyed how Mr. Pignati treated them. John was so used to adults being rude and not understanding him that when he saw Mr. Pignati buying him things and taking him places, he took advantage of it. Mr. Pignati was so friendly to the teenagers that they felt like the missing piece in their lives was solved. Lastly, Mr. Pignati was so lonely. After Mr. Pignati’s wife, Conchetta, passed away he had no one else in his life. John and Lorraine noticed that right away and almost felt badly for the old man. In summary, the two adolescents become companions with Mr. Pignati because of his personality and his attitude.…

We will never forget the caring manner in which Mr. Pignati talked about his beloved wife Conchetta. She was the woman of his dreams, she meant the world to him and he never fully recovered from her death. He loved her so much he could not part with any of her possessions. The pigs that symbolized their love and brought him such warm memories of her were his most valued possessions. But for all his seriousness, Mr Pignati loved having a good time, and he showed us that life should be fun. It was his idea to buy the roller-skates at Beekman’s Department Store, and when i put my skates on he joined right in. He enjoyed the simple things in life as long as he had other people to share them with. John and I stepped into his life after his wife Conchetta died, and we enjoyed the same exotic foods that he had shared with her. It was fun that we had never had in our homes.…
