A Rough, Tough Trip
In 1620, John Howland along with 102 English people embarked on the Mayflower. The Puritans wanted to go to a place where they could worship God freely. While the rest of the people called Pilgrims go have fun and explore the New World. They set their sights on America. During their trip the tiny cargo ship sailed into a sinister storm. Blinding lightning flashed hazardously, deafening thunder boomed tremendously, piercing wind blew the small ship off course, and monstrous waves tossed the boat ferociously. The pilgrims hid safely in the gun deck while the brave sailors stayed up on deck to keep the ship afloat. The gun deck was overloaded with people and the soaked, cold Pilgrims were frightened.     But, most important they landed in their new home of Plymouth, Massachusetts on November twenty-first, 1620. When they made it to America they found "nothing," like no life, no civilization, and no animals, just flatland.
