The Plastic era
Famous actress and model, Patricia Heaton, once said, “Plastic surgery is like the big elephant in the Hollywood living room.” (Brainy Quotes). With television shows like Extreme
Makeover, Nip/Tuck, and The Swan, people of all ages feel the need to knock themselves out to fit society’s standards of an ideal body. In this generation, cosmetic surgery is used as entertainment rather than a serious form of surgery. Enhancement of beauty and health benefits attract patients into receiving cosmetic surgery. On the other hand, cosmetic surgery has many disastrous consequences including major side effects, unwanted personal appearances, and extremely high prices.
Plastic surgery is the fairy godmother of all women. In a spin of a wand you have the
amazing body that would have taken you months, even years, of exercise to acquire. In Michael
J. Wheatley’s, “Beauty 411” he advocates plastic surgery by stating, “Cosmetic surgery won't change your life. It won't solve personal problems or make you look like someone else. But it may give you greater selfconfidence and add to your sense of wellbeing”. Women that gain selfconfidence after plastic surgery and hold their head held high often are happier than women who face life with fears, and insecurities.“Cosmetic Surgery Talk” article claims,“...another advantage of cosmetic surgery is that this is actually regarded, not only the best, but also the fastest way to resolve your physical problems.” Busy schedules can often hinder you from getting to your physical potential. With 8hour shifts, toddlers, and school no one has time to hit
the gym. Stop crying a river and let the fairy do her magic.
