The poem "Shirts (1990)" by Robert Pinsky, we retrospect a historical fact that happened in 1911. Pinsky describes event that took place during the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. Poem defines people that was working at the factory, I find it important because workers were mostly immigrants. As well it gives us clearer understanding why most of the fatalities were females. Immigrants were considered cheap labor and didn’t require suitable and safe working conditions. Poem is limited in details and much shorter than the article from The New York Times.
