Activity 23 The poem I choose that make me familiar about love in this world is “No Longer Mourn for Me When I am Dead” by William Shakespeare. I choose this poem because it uses great rhyme scheme, imagery, and tone. This poem provides people and opportunity to know the world better and how you know someone after your death. This poem also guides people to live happily in life.
Shakespeare uses specific imagery and tone to make his poems interesting and amazing to a reader. For example “Than you shall hear the surly sullen bell” uses great imagery such as “sullen bell” to show the reader how the death bell is noticeable and memorable. The speaker wonders how his memory will affect to his lover after he is gone. A part of the poem “From this vile world, with vilest worms to dwell…That I in your sweet thoughts would be forgot, If thinking on me then should make you woe” shows great tone. The tone in the poem shows that love is full of pain using these words “vile”, “worms”, “sweet”, and “woe”. Shakespeare is able to show how his poems are great by using many kinds of literary device. I feel I can relate my self as shakespear because I use to love someone till my death. Shakespeare uses a rhyme scheme to help the reader to understand format and play of the poem. In his poem I found interesting the way the poem uses rhyme scheme for example ABAB CDCD EFEF GG and the entire sentence have exact rhyme except for the last two which have slant rhyme. For example “Lest the wise world should look into your moan, and mock you with me after I am gone.” This two last sentence in his poem are slant rhyme using “moan”, and “gone” to show how his poem is set up and how it makes your feel attractive and emotional about love to the reader. Shakespeare uses great from of writing in his poems. (wikipedia)
