1) The changing face of business - Emergence of instant trade (bypassing stock brokers), unrestricted global markets, business without borders, exchange of money at lightning speed,
2) The ever expanding job market – The top 10 in demand jobs in 2010 did not exist in 2004
3) Corporate giants and the world of e-commerce have increased their influence and profits
4) The regulation of economy by organisations such as the IMF and World Bank help economically struggling countries and corporations by bailing them out – Economic reform is a precondition of loans
5) The impact on poverty – 3 billion people said to have been brought out of poverty since World War II by globalisation
6) Helps countries such as China and India become emerging world superpowers
7) More connectedness (higher quantity, arguably lower quality) – Friendships transcend borders, 1/8 married U.S couples met online
8) Easier to reach a market audience of 50 million - Facebook can do this in 2 years while using a radio would take 38 years
9) How easy it is to gain knowledge – A massive cache of information is available at the click of the button through the Google search engine
10) Being able to eventually rely on computers and machines to do our work – By 2049, it is predicted a $1000 computer will exceed the computational capabilities of the entire human species

1) The environmental impact – Land being cleared for development and factories, oil spills in the ocean, climate change (global warming – if it’s true, rising sea levels, droughts, floods) caused by human activities
2) The impact on the local community – Local farmers lose out at the hands of big companies, multinational companies are increasingly outsourcing jobs to foreigners or other countries at the loss of the local population
