In the story of ‘The Possibility of Evil’ by Shirley Jackson the symbols used were the beautiful roses, letters,and using the street name Pleasant Street. By using the love, courage, and pride this describes us the symbols so the story could have more emotion such as pathos. We need this because it helps us get an idea of how the description is. Not only words that describe emotion can represent symbols. For example Mrs. Strangeworth’s roses are very valuable Like if they were her own child. In the beginning of the story her roses are the most important things she has because its is like her heritage from her family and those her she has lost in the past. They symbolize that they represent that a sweet little old lady would not do such a thing
