Cultural Capital: the culture middle-class parents passes on to their children to establish them for success for the future. For example: the piano lessons, the soccer team, Sunday school, guitar lessons….so anything that will help in the cultivation of the child.
Profiling: making generalizations about a person.
Social Institution: an area where socialization occurs. Interaction occurs, norms vary, and structure behavior is prescribed in certain ways. There’s specific roles in behavior.
Institutionalization: to place yourself with the norms and values with certain behaviors, and conforming to it. To make into, treat as, or give the character of an institution to.
Deinstitutionalization: means creation of egalitarianism, which means equality with men and women behavior. Different ways of acting, the channel with norms that show how to behave becomes weaker, we have choices now.
(i.e. last names aren’t always taken by the wife, etc) conflicts occurs when there are decisions you have to make = not everyones
