How would I recreate Asch’s experiment with the friends and family I know? I would let them play a role-play game. A role-play game is a game where you make the decisions to determine your final ending at the end of the game.
To start the experiment off I would have 12 people. 4 will know about the experiment while the rest won’t. There will be 3 groups. In one group there will be 1(Person A) that is playing the game, 2(Person B&C) that are watching, 1(Person D) that knows about the experiment and me, observing. When the Person A reaches a point in the game where he needs to make a decision I will voice my opinion and Person D will copy. Person B&C are free to say anything or nothing at all. Whether they conform or
not is up to Person A. After the decision was chosen I will ask them to be truthful on whether or not the answer they choose was the original answer they wanted to pick. This process will be repeated with different people 2 more times. Results: Person A conformed 66% (⅔)of the time. The main factor that made my peers conform is the fact they they were best friends. When I brought over friends of Person A s/he conformed more readily than without a best friend. Another factor was just the fact that Person A always complies to other people's needs. To apply this in real life is that when a decision needs to be made if a best friend wants to do something different from Person A they are more likely to conform more readily.
