The Process Of Overcoming My Writing
Writing has continually been a challenge and not having established a set writing process rendered it a bit more complicated when I began writing this exemplification essay because I was unable to fully convey all of my thoughts and ideas onto paper. Now that I have developed my own writing process I have learned that one approach to overcoming this challenge is to create an outline listing those thoughts, and then organize them logically so that I can write the relevant ideas into my essay.

One of the biggest improvements I would make in this essay is to check my paper for punctuation and grammatical errors. In most cases when I am writing, I tend to focus on the ideas that I want to express in the essay that I neglect checking the

First, I need to focus on a single topic. My first essay draft was too broad scoped, it had many main topics and lacked details for each. Second, I need to pay attention to writing instructions. In my second essay I got so wrapped up in a single topic and details that I completely missed the point of the essay. That we were to write a “personal essay” and forgot to add all the personal details/experiences. Third, I think would be word usage, grammar and proper sentence structure. There is always room for improvement in these areas I have yet to get a paper back without comment on one of the three.…

I am improving in revising my own essay. I have also noticed I have improved on analysis where I had trouble with. At the beginning of this quarter I would usually put one sentence or two and now I am getting the hang of analysis. Also, I am improving in Works cited. This time I think I did well in the organization because I put the archetypes in chronological order, but also a repetition of archetypes. For example, good, bad, good, bad because in life there is always obstacles and it is not always going to be good times. Overall, strengths were the length requirement, which I think I exceeded to do more than the minimum requirement that was 4 pages, improving in MLA format, and citing sources. I have improved in grammar and organization. I think I have improved in analysis and also in my analysis conclusion. My weaknesses, I felt were the paragraphs that did not relate back to my thesis and also the shapeshifter paragraph was not…

What I need to do to improve and how I plan to do this: In future, instead of getting paralysis, or worrying that what I am writing about is not valid, I need to use what knowledge I have, back it up with theory and be confident that this is what’s needed. It would be better to get an essay in on time, than delay submitting it due to worry that it isn’t ‘good enough’.…

The Abolitionist Movement that began in the 1830s changed America greatly. Being apart of the movement meant either using your way with words, like Frederick Douglass, to motivate others into joining, or personally helping slaves attain freedom, as did William Mitchell. The 1830s and on became a progressive time for all types of people. White men and women in the North started to team with African Americans, thus creating the Abolitionist Movement. Exploring Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death”, Prospero can be identified as an uncaring ruler. To the incisive reader, there is an implicit meaning within the text which creates strong suspicion that this man is deranged, for we are told that “Prince Prospero was happy and dauntless and sagacious” (687 Poe) even though most of the people in his kingdom had been abolished by the Red Death. The same man, motivated by a morbid fear of death, selfishly decides to carry out the immorality of secluding himself from most of his subjects by evacuating with a thousand friends to avoid a similar fate. While in that state of quarantine, he preoccupies his carefully selected guests at a masked ball in the seven rooms of his imperial suite.…

By utilizing four steps, I can effectively write an essay on the topics assigned during this program (Bethel, 2015). The first step is developing a clear point and is followed by supporting ideas. I plan to use quick notes to get my ideas down and make sure I need them. Next I need to organize my ideas to explain how I arrived at my thesis. Finally, I need to proofread my writing to omit any grammar or writing mistakes. These steps can help my writing be more concise and improve over time.…

I have learned that revising your writing makes it way better than before. You find your mistakes and realize you can replace words such as “bring to” to a different high vocabulary word such as “cease”. I know now that there is no way to make your paper perfect. There will always be a word, words, or sentence you could change. In addition, I’ve gained a better understanding on passive and active sentences. Once I was done writing my paper, and began to reread it I found some passive sentences. All I did was revise the sentence which helped my writing flow better. Initially, I read the first paper I wrote for the Quarter 1 Writing Assessment and I noticed that I didn’t follow the directions completely. As I read on, there were many simple sentences and not many transitional words.…

Over the course of this year in English, I think my writing process has excelled the most along with my overall writing. In the past, I have used similar techniques to develop a final essay, but, this year, I have begin to rely more heavily on planning out and slowly chipping away at my essays and papers. I believe also that because of this planning the strength of my writing as a whole has grown. Personally, I do not think that I grew in my vocabulary usage. Overall this year, I grew as a writer in ways that I would not have predicted.…

In school, we have been required to write many papers on many different subjects, some being timed and others not. Writing has never been something that has come easy to me, especially when put on the spot and told to write a paper in a certain amount of hours. When I am given the time to plan my essay, the writing has more depth than when I am put on the spot and have no time to think about what will go into my paper.…
