Code of Ethics Questions
The main purpose of these questions is to manifest professionalism of a candidate. A candidate should have gained some understanding of the Professional Code of Ethic and conduct before entering for the Professional Interview. The questions selected by the examiners may be expected to be familiar.

A candidate would be expected to demonstrate;
a) That he has thought sufficiently about the role of the engineer in the society vis-à-vis his professional Code of Ethics.
b) That he can write in clear and concise manner that is …….

Candidate would be expected to answer only 2 question among the 4 questions listed below:

QUESTION 1 [10 Marks]
Your first interview after graduation is with HICOM Teck See under DRB Hicom ownership. As you know, lately DRB Hicom face a fierce competition to sale their flagship automotive product (Preve, Exora and Suprima) with other automotive makers. So during the interview session, the interviewer asks you how you can improve DRB Hicom competitiveness against their rival by securing your service as mechanical engineer. You point out the improvement may achieve by your engineering ethical manner. Although they already have a lot of engineer, they want to hear from your point of view. Discuss and show off your capability during the interview session by;
i.
Explaining ethic in general. (4 Marks) ii. Explaining him the importance of improving DRB Hicom nature of business by ethical engineer
(3 Marks) iii. Explaining him the importance of ethic as recommended by Institution of Engineers (IEM) and Board of Engineers (BEM)
(3 Marks)

QUESTION 2 [10 Marks]
After a successful interview session, you were offered a job at HICOM Teck See under DRB Hicom ownership. They gave their trust to you to improve quality of their transmission production line. They agreed upon your request an acquisition of team member, material, method or relevant machine in order to succeed. Before doing those particular activities, describe to them the code of practice held by engineers to ensure all task given is achieved by;
i.
General idea of code of practice

Chances of budget misused during department’s purchasing (4 Marks) iii. General idea of how to minimize budget misused during any department’s purchasing

QUESTION 3 [10 Marks]
Once you anticipated in Hicom Engineering Sdn. Bhd production line, you challenge yourself to finish the TQM project in five (5) years time. However, in order to implement the project successfully, you and your engineering team need qualified and professional engineers to boost the project success rate. The cost of hiring professional engineers is expensive. So, you discuss with management to develop your own professional engineers among your engineering team in five (5) years time. Describe to the management what the route to become professional engineers is. Acknowledge all requirements, training required, interview and exam session. Explain the benefit of professional engineer for company in short and long term period;

QUESTION 4 [10 Marks]
As an engineer, you are required to understand the company’s target and implement it. In order to execute those policies, you need to manage your man, machine, material and method. This management skill will ensure your company gain competitive edge against their rival. However, you as an engineer also prone to make error and wrong judgment especially during pressured period. Discuss a mistake regularly conducted by engineer according to engineering management policies.
