People who have a disability should not get treated differently. I believe that people who have disabilities should not be looked at or thought of no different than any other person. I have a cousin that has a disability and I don’t think of it as a bad thing. But some people look at people with a disability and judge them because of it. Sometimes I think to myself what if that were you, what if it was one of your best closest friends. Would you treat them like they are a nothing or a nobody. Or would you still hang out with them and be a nice person and stand up for them when they are in need.
When I go out in public with my cousin people always stare at me when he acts up like you need to control that kid. Or they say that kid is so annoying. I hate it when people do that because it would be no different if he were your kid. People look at me funny when I have to hold his hand because he is only 9. When we get into a large crowded areas it just feels like everybody just stops and stares at me. When we go to the Iowa state fair I have to help. I was thinking to myself how could all of these people just walk away and try to find somebody else to shake hands with. Especially in a church where everybody was polite to everybody else.
