Growing up at the age of seven my family and I migrated to the U.S. in search for a better life. My parents gave up their jobs, in order for my education to better. I can now say after twelve years’ my parents are now U.S. residents. Never once when growing up where my parents consider, criminals, rapist, or bad people in the United States until our 2016 presidency election by our president Donald J. Trump. The comments made by our president, just proves how Immigration is still one of the biggest issues in America today. …show more content…
Recently, our President has put a ban to six Muslim countries from entering the United States, all because of “safety concerns”.
As The Heritage Foundation states, “The real problem presented by illegal immigration is security, not the supposed threat to the economy.” (Johnson) If we keep up with the mindset that Immigrants are what is bringing this country downhill, America will become unsafe. False accusations and mistreating a different race group will only trigger the people of those countries. In fact, Terrorism by Muslims make up one-third of 1 percent of all murders in the U.S. Suddenly the American people choose to pay no attention to American born
terrorism.
I strongly believe Immigration is one of Americas biggest issue because, of how drastically our economy will change. Immigrants are twice as likely to start a new business as native-born Americans. While rates of entrepreneurialism are declining among natives, they are. Immigrant children typically show extraordinary upward mobility, in terms of income, occupation and education. Among children born in Los Angeles to poorly-educated Chinese immigrants, for example 271 % complete a four-year-college degree. (Reeves)
Immigration makes America great, most people who migrate to this country is to pursue The American Dream. I’m fortunate enough to be under the D.A.C.A program, and I believe this program can change a person’s view on Immigration. Every member of D.A.C.A is a student who is willing to work hard for a successful life career, we want to better ourselves and be able to provide for our family. It’s an issue that someone will think a program like this is not necessary and just take it away. Immigration will not be fixed by building a wall, it will only worsen the situation, financially, and economically.
