to me that there are few or no negative effects on the brain. This website also states that there are cannabinoids in the human body, similar to phytocannabinoids in the marijuana plant. According to (Poindexter) “There were 658,000 arrests for marijuana possession in 2012, according to F.B.I. figures,” the Times notes, “compared with 256,000 for cocaine, heroin and their derivatives.” If marijuana was legalized these numbers would have been much lower. Marijuana is a very popular drug and there are more people using it than not. If the government were to take charge of this and start selling it in stores there would be many more doors opened. They would be able to put taxes on it and control how much one person buys at a time.
This graph represents the marijuana sales state by state in 2014. California is one of the main states that accept marijuana usage and 49% percent of the sales belong to them. This stands out to me because that is almost half of the sales. Considering this in dollar form is a lot of money that could be used for each state if marijuana is legalized. In conclusion, the legalization of marijuana is a very controversial topic and could be debated in many ways. Even though marijuana seems to be negative to some people, it’s positive for others. Marijuana helps with eyesight, eating habits, and money. So where do you stand? Should marijuana be legalized or shouldn’t it?
