The truth is that doctors are just puppets and medicine is not just a cure in the grander scheme of business. A global phenomenon bringing in billions of dollars, the pharmaceutical industry is banking on peoples health. Prescription thugs describe these companies by the way they work and maneuver around the system. Pharmaceutical companies use manipulative tactics to endorse drugs to average citizens through media propaganda and playing on the government weakness of greed.These companies do not regret infiltrating society in a negative manner. Not concerned with the health of the person, but rather the health of the population leaving the individual lost and addicted. With more people being put on medication every day the pharmaceutical industry's wallet grows gigantic (“Big Pharma: Are They Advertising Addiction?” 1).

Prescription is a widely familiar word in the medical sphere , but rarely paired with the with the word thug. A criminal nature is not something you associate with the medical industry. You would never imagine a thug as a person dressed in a $200 suit, sitting behind a large, mahogany, desk with a family at home. Pharmaceutical companies are playing games on human's well-being. American citizens are being used as the pieces shuffled around the board earning the players billions of dollars by the second. The reason is that America is the national leader in drug consumption worldwide. In America, pharmaceutical companies are drug dealers for the common person.
The United States of America makes up of 5% of the global population, yet we utilize 75% of the world's prescription medication.
In 2015, the money spent on prescription drugs reached $457 billion and by the year 2020, it will be over $610 billion.They are selling addiction through prevention and becoming one of the most powerful industries in the world. Feeding into the world market, pharmaceutical companies stocks are at an all-time high. Unlikely pill poppers are funding a world unknown to them. The dramatic increase in revenue is due to the soaring price of medication. Pharmaceutical companies are using the money earned from medication sales to aid in the United States Food and Drug Administration's yearly budget.
