The Pros and Cons of the Internet
The safety of the internet is one of the most contreversial debates at the moment. Is it a helpful educational tool or a window to disturbing sites and pornography. Iam here today to discuss the pros and cons of the use of the internet especially to children and teenagers. The internet can be seen from a positive point of view as a tool which can be used as an encyclopedia for every subject you can imagine. It can be used to communicate with friends throught instant messaging and e-mails, somthing which could not be done without the internet, and means that fort example people can talk to people in countries all over the world. Information on everything from holiday bookings to turtles can be easily found in seconds. Another positive aspect is online shopping, you can download and buy anything under the sun. This service is helpful to everyone from lazy teenagers to elderley people who can now buy their weekly shopping whithout having to leave the house. Also the internet is a source of fun and games. There are many interesting and funny sites where you can have harmless fun playing games and looking at pictures. But.... it can also be taken advantage of by the wrong sorts of people. The seemlessly harmless chat rooms where it is advertised for kids to make new friends, there is no way of knowing if you are talking to a 14 year old girl or a 40 year old man. This is the one of the biggest dangers. We have all heard the stories about young children being taken advantage of but knowone thinks it could be them or their children. Children and parents need to learn about precautions which need to be taken in order to keep the internet innocent. The other main problem is the lack sensoring. Children of any age can end up downloading pornography or other violent and unsuitable images. It is positivly unexceptable for images and sites like these to be made available to people of any age without proper warnings etc.... Another problom with the

Today the Internet has created some really bad issues. First of all, viruses are a problem for the web and its users because they cause damage to their computers. A virus is sent and received as an e-mail through the Internet, and if a computer receives a virus, it is expensive to fix. Therefore, people will have to buy a new mother board in order to get the computer to work again. Another bad thing that often occurs on the Internet is fraud. Frauds are most likely to happen online; therefore, people should avoid giving any personal information for example credit card numbers, debit card numbers, home addresses, and especially not social security numbers. When shoppers are buying merchandise through the Internet with a debit or a credit card, they may have a good chance of getting fraud. People don't only lose money, but they can also get their identity stolen. Pornography is also a negative side of the Internet because a kid can get to it just by clicking the mouse. Pornography pages do say "Adults Only"; however, this does not stop an underage children from looking through the pornography pages. The Internet is the easiest way for a child to get to pornography; in fact, pornography causes serious damages to a child. A child can become addicted to sex, distract him/her from his/her normal school activities, and can grow up with a perverted mind. Viruses, frauds, and pornography are a few examples…

Though a wonderful educational and social resource, the internet poses a multitude of dangers of its own. In this day and age most homes have the internet and even cafes and shops offer wifi services so people can access the internet from pretty much anywhere and with games consoles, mobile phones and a multitude of other devices having internet capabilities you do not need to own a computer or laptop now to be able to access the world wide web. Unfortunately peadophiles and other dangerous and unsavoury characters have cottoned on to the power of the internet and use it for their own vile ends. Having the internet in your home or in school is almost like opening the door to the world and if youre not careful, inviting anyone in. Most children do not see the possible dangers lurking on facebook and in online chatrooms and gamerooms and it is our job as adults and educators to help protect children online and help them to understand the threats that are there in cyberspace.…

This may range from age un-appropriate material to pornography and material that encourages dangerous and illegal activities. There is also the threat of ‘Grooming’. This is where a person or persons use chat rooms to make contact with young people with the intention of developing relationships that they can progress to sexual activity. Paedophiles will often target a child, posing as a young person with similar interests and hobbies in order to establish an online 'friendship'. Before we get onto the positive effects of internet use, let’s start with these much touted negative side effects. The naysayers would have us believe that the internet prevents us from interacting on a face to face basis and destroys old fashioned pursuits of writing letters and speaking on the phone; people even meet their spouses online these days! With business and finance now handled online we’re also far too dependent on the internet and would be at a loss should it break down. With the internet in our pocket we’re now never ‘disconnected’ and are at our boss’ beck and call 24 hours a day. Our bank cards are also more susceptible than ever to fraud and theft… And through all this we’re getting addicting and neglecting our real relationships, stuck inside in a more and more hermit like existence. They also say that sitting in front of a computer prevents us from getting outside and basking in fresh air and instead gives us repetitive strain injuries, hunched over spines and square…

The main advantage of the Internet is that communication is made very easy. Two people on opposite sides of the world can communicate with each other via such things as video conferences or online chat. There are many “chat rooms” on the web that can be accessed to meet new people, make new friends or stay in touch with your old friends and families. This would save money as none of us has to take flights to other countries or make long phone calls. But the most popular good point about the Internet is that it provides e-mail. By a touch of a button, you can send and receive instant electronic emails. This definitely has its advantages over postal mail since it’s totally free and the senders can save a lot of time. We can also send our letters or invitations to multiple recipients instead of writing them for hundreds of times. Moreover, the Internet is a virtual treasure which provides us with unlimited source of information. You can find anything that is in your interest simply by logging on to Internet search pages like Google or VinaSeek. Students can also study English as well as other subjects online, which is quite effective and economical. On the Internet, there are also many online stores that can be used to look for products as well as buy them using your credit card. This makes life very easy for disabled people or people with busy lives who have no time to go shopping. Moreover, many good software, great music, movies can be downloaded for free.…

First of all, I think that the Internet brings us many benefits. People can have access to the latest news, weather, traffic, bid-and-asked quotations, etc. Another important benefit is that the Internet is a great means of communication. A few years ago it was rather difficult to imagine that it would be possible to communicate with people from all around the world. Students have the opportunity to speak to the professors from prestigious universities, ask their opinions and extend their range of interests. People have the opportunity to communicate with the people from other countries, find out their customs, traditions and even visit each other. I think that the Internet makes our world smaller and friendlier. We' ve got the chance to learn more about the world's history, our forefathers and gain more knowledge.…

The internet has many advantages. MANY! You can share documents and stuff using different file hosting servers. Let’s say, in the old times, you had to send a document to your colleague. He lives way far from you. You write the document and send it to the post office. It takes him about 2 weeks to deliver the document. If you had to send the same document these days, you just type the document and send it to the colleague using e-mail and there you go! Another advantage is that you can store money using the internet. If we have to make a donation or send money to an friend all have to do is make a paypal account and send the money in a secure and reliable way.…
