I called the police instantly so that they were aware of this investigation I was starting. When they arrived, I dug up the rest of the bones that were buried there. This narrowed my results from 100 to 40.These results were better, but I still needed more to figure out who this person was.
I was feeling a little frustrated until I looked at the pubic symphysis. I remembered from the article “Identifying the Victim,” that the pubic symphysis “tallied” how many babies a woman had. There were three marks on the pubic symphysis and this was great information because when the police ran women that had three children through the database, my results came down to three.
My last final step in solving this case was to figure out the race of this female. Her skull was round and she had a wide set of ocular orbits. I knew she had to be Negroid. Because she was the only Negroid out of three, I could positively identify her as Hai Omiata.
According to her neighbors, she had a big dispute with her mailman a couple of months ago resulting in him losing his job. This would explain the little white piece of paper the was found under the dirt. I called Hai’s family and let them know of their loss.
