The Purpose Driven Life Summary
The Purpose Driven Life
By L Johnson Sooner or later just about everyone wonders, "What is God's purpose for my life?" The Purpose Driven Life is a powerful book that you must read. It contains valuable advice to help you understand why you are alive and God’s amazing plan for you while you are here on earth and what is in store for you during eternity. This course has taught me that It all begins with God, my Creator, and it has taught me the reasons God created me. I learned that I was created to be loved by God; that I was created to love God; that I was created to love my neighbor; that I was created to worship God; that I was created to have fellowship with God; that I was created to be one of God’s special people; and that I was created to have eternal life in the presence of God. To begin with, I learned that I was created to be loved by God. God knew and loved me even before He created the world. God loved me then, and God loves me now. God is Love, and His love is very different from human love. God's love is unconditional, and it's not based on feelings or emotions. The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: "Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you. Jeremiah 31:3. God created me to have a loving relationship with Him, and He sacrificed His own Son (who also willingly died for me) to restore that relationship. In addition to knowing that God loves me, I learned that I was created to love God. I was created to spend time with Him, listen to Him, talk to Him, and quietly delight in His presence. Jesus said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." Matthew 22:37. We must love God unconditionally even when we face uncertainty. After that I learned that I was created to love my neighbor. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:39b; For this is the message that you heard from the beginning,

“Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22 (NKJV). I heard the question asked last night. “What rewards your life?” The answer was; to deeply appreciate those, who love you by loving them back. That’s what life is all about. You can ruin your life by desensitizing yourself. We are all afraid to say too much, feel too deeply, to let people know just how much they mean to us. But not God, in fact, we find in this verse how much He loves us. Many of us have a mental picture of what a Christian should be. Yet many of us don’t make ourselves vulnerable enough to fully narrow all our interests until our mind, heart, and body are completely focused and looking at…

In chapter fifteen, Atticus Finch goes at night to the Maycomb Jail to guard Tom Robinson. Scout, not knowing the true intentions of the men, runs from her hiding spot into their circle and attempts to make small talk with Walter Cunningham. After she speaks, Walter tells the men to get back in their cars and go. This is a powerful scene because it shows that there is good in everyone and that the things people share are more important than the things that divide them. She talked with Walter about small things like his son and his entailment, causing him to forget his anger and remember some of his goodness. Her childish innocence and good intentions were enough to remind Walter Cunningham of all the things that he shared with her and Atticus, causing him to lead the previously hostile men away.…

We have all asked ourselves why were we created, what is our purpose in life? As Christians we believe that God created us because he wants to have relationship with us and he wants to know each of us on a personal level. (John 17:3) The creation of man brought God great pleasure and therefore we existed to know and please him. (Revelation 4:11)…

I realized that I wasn't content with how I was living or how I was not pleasing to God's will and his purpose for my life. At times, I would get discouraged, stressed, worried or felt like I was not good enough for God. As I begun reading Romans 12:2 over and over again, it reminded me that God loves me, and wants me to be the best I can be, because I was created in his image.…

God Is Love vs Sonnet 116

“Love” has been experienced, examined, converted for entertainment, manipulated, shaken, and stirred innumerable times through the ages, as humanity attempts to reign in the profound concept. Mankind was created to participate in a love affair with the Creator, and even those who don’t believe in Him still feel desire for the love only He can provide. With regards to Christianity, the fact that “God so loved the world” seems to be ingrained in the church, but His love can nonetheless feel intangible and semi-present. Therefore, when God’s love feels distant–or is not believed in, people try to fill this ache through other means, namely each other. What is then found is an idealized love--created by people--which mimics the love of God but focuses on the satisfaction of the individual. Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 116” represents this secular vision of ideal love, but as Benedict XVI reveals in “God is Love,” it is ultimately only a shadowy, reflected image of God’s passion that cannot be fully manifested amongst sinful people.…

John 3:16” For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. That whoever should believe in him shall not parish, but have everlasting life.” That verse is more true to me today than it was 15 years ago. When I was five years old I became a Christian. One day I was riding my bike and I felt a tug at my heart to let Jesus into my life. After feeling that tug in my heart I went inside and told my Mom that I wanted to become a Christian. She prayed with me and I have been a Christian ever since.…

    This I Believe- Love

Let’s look at the spiritual dimension of love. Many scriptures in the Bible speak of it. “For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever shall believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. This verse in the Bible clearly states that God sent His son, Jesus Christ to the world to take care of our transgressions and our iniquities. Another verse in the Bible is a verse that all should be familiar with, considering it is one of the Ten Commandments. “Thou shalt not avenge, not bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord.” Leviticus 19:18. Many songs express the love of God or express how much His children love Him. “I love you Lord, and I lift my voice, to worship you, oh my soul, rejoice! Take joy, my King, in what You hear, and let it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.” This song brings back memories for me because I remember I would go to church when I was a little girl, and I would hear my mother sing this song in the choir stands, and when we would go home, it would stay stuck in my head all day. This song and many more songs not only reminded me of how much I love God, but how much I love others around me.…

When we think of love, we are tempted to focus on romantic love, but the Bible reminds us of God’s love for us and the commandment to love our neighbors. Love is known as the key to evangelism. It is the basis for all Christian beliefs, such as Justice, Sacrifice, Service, Grace, and many more. Jesus said that loving one another, as well as loving ourselves is the basis for our Christian life. The kind of love that God was, and is, looking for can be read in several New Testament passages, one of them being Leviticus 19:18, which says, “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.” The central theme of the bible is to love those around us. If we do that, God will support us in our quest to love those around us, as he clearly spells out in Isaiah 58:7. “Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?” This verse proves that love is a very important central theme to the bible. It clearly states that those more fortunate are responsible for helping those who are incapable of helping themselves. To share our food with the hungry, provide the wanderer with shelter, and clothe the naked. It has been said that the grounds for religion and true worship are to care for those who can’t care for themselves. This…
