Raping of Nanking The Raping of Nanking is just another antecedent of the making of World War 1. The Raping of Nanking took place during December 1937 to March 1938, it was responsible for 300,000 deaths and between 20,000 to 80,000 women were sexually assaulted. Another name that this is known for is the Nanking Massacre. Japanese terrorized the people of Nanjing. The city was left in ruins and it would take decades for the city to recover from the horrible attacks. They killed people at random, they buried people alive, raped; little boys and girls, they also set buildings on fire, churches, shops, and schools. They didn't think twice if people were in them. When girls were raped it wasn't just one time, one girl reported being raped 37

To sum up the book in 5 sentences, it was a book about this guy who got caught smuggling Heroin from Thailand to Australia. He got caught in Thailand after they suspected this drug activity at the airport one of the previous times, and the Thailand police contacted the Australian police about it and wanted them to keep a close eye on him, so they did and then put him and his accomplice in a Bangkok prison, at first he got “life”.He spent most of his time in Bang Kwang, but anywhere he went the guards beat the prisoners, sometimes to death, and they had to wear chains around their ankles. There was a riot one time when this person in Building Four (one of the worst places) stabbed a guard and everyone in that building followed, him and Paul stayed in their cell fearing about what the guards would do, which was making them crawl through human feces. Heroin is a tremendous deal in the prisons as well and guards sold it to…

The Rape of Nanking is a book that has detailed accounts of the horrific events of 1937 in Nanking after the Japanese invaded and slaughtered, raped, mutilated, and tortured Chinese. Iris Chang refers to the Rape of Nanking by calling it the ‘forgotten Holocaust’ and draws a connection to the World War II victims. The Rape of Nanking isn’t discussed very much due to the survivors who feel greatly humiliated by the event and the Japanese try to hide this part of history. Chang tells the tales of not only the viewpoint of the Chinese, but also from the Japanese and Westerners perspective view as well. It is interesting to note that only those at Nanking have been documented which provides most of the information for this book. No one can quarrel…

The Nanking Atrocity is a contentious historical event in world history. The two countries in which it involved, China and Japan, both argue vehemently about what events actually occurred and those that have been fabricated. In August of 1937 the Japanese army began their invasion of China’s capital, Shanghai. By mid-November they had conquered the city and they began their march towards the city of Nanking, the capital of Chiang Kai-shek’s regime. This city, however, would not be able to resist the Japanese army and would also fall shortly after Shanghai. After numerous air raids on the city, Japanese troops invaded the walls of Nanking on December 13th and established military control over the city. In the subsequent weeks, horrendous…

World War I has a debatable issue about how the war was started. Some believe that each nation started it equally but I believe it was from a different cause. Austria-Hungary’s harsh act against Serbia and Germany’s unneeded declaration of war against Russia and France actually cause World War I. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia to quickly and then Germany declared wars on nations because it was “defending itself” even though it just wanted to gain more territories and use its large military. These rash acts caused the whole world to plummet into the largest war man had ever seen.…

The late Iris Chang hoped that her work “THE RAPE OF NANKING” would lead to an official Japanese apology for the atrocities Japanese troops committed in Nanking in 1937. Chang’s well-intentioned attempt to secure a Japanese apology for the Nanking atrocities is meaningless because many of the perpetrators and victims are now dead. Thus, a Japanese apology would be an empty gesture that has no meaning. "We will probably never know exactly what news Hirohito received about Nanking as the massacre was happening," she writes, " but the record suggests that he was exceptionally pleased by it" (p. 179).…

December 13, 1937 marked the date of the onset of the true horrors in Nanking. Japan mutilated the city in every imaginable fashion. “Although [the Chinese] greatly outnumbered the Japanese and had plenty of ammunition, they withered under the ferocity of the Japanese attack” (The History Place). Essentially defenseless, as the people were centrally gathered in two main Nanking streets, the Chinese civilians and military were slaughtered ruthlessly. Japanese forces acted in unfathomably inhumane fashion, and “[conducted] bayonet practice on live prisoners, [decapitated and displayed] severed heads [of the Chinese people] as souvenirs, and proudly [stood] among mutilated corpses. Some of the Chinese [military] were simply mowed down by machine-gun…

WW1 was a brutal battle that spread to many countries. Every country was trying to overpower each other and make everybody else like them. The 3 main causes of WW1 were militarism, alliances and nationalism; countries were building up there militaries, the alliances were surrounding another alliance, and nationalism was over ruling the countries. Militarism is a domino effect. One country starts to build up there their armies and other countries notice and start to build up there…
