The Relationship Between The Marigolds And Spider Lilies
As twilight approached on the night of the chief bat’s 444th full moon, the preparations for his death ceremony began. Marigolds and red spider lilies were laid out in a circle and the cricket band began to play. As soon as the sun fell behind the horizon, the procession from the sacred tree to the moon pond started, with the chief leading the way and his son behind him. As the procession made it to the moon pond where the marigolds and spider lilies were laid out, all the bats stopped and the chief bat stood in front of them all ready to give his last speech. “My last hour is approaching and my body is at its end, although my soul will still live on. In the heart of the moon pond, a single, ancient seed lies beneath the marigolds and red spider lilies. It is the seed of the Moonflower, a blossom that only blooms once in a thousand full moons.” The chief bat turned to his son, who stood solemnly by his side, eyes filled with both sadness and determination. “My son, you will oversee this sacred ritual. The Moonflower is a gift from the gods, a promise that life continues even as it ends. When I take my last breath, my spirit will enter the earth, nourishing the seed. The Moonflower will bloom, and from its heart, a new life will emerge” The bats murmured in awe as the chief spoke. This was the sacred story passed down through generations, yet few had witnessed the miracle of the Moonflower. The chief’s son nodded, accepting the heavy responsibility bestowed upon him. The chief bat stepped forward, closer to the edge of the moon pond, and looked up at the sky. The full moon shone brightly, casting a silver glow over the gathered bats and the sacred flowers.
