The 1920’s in America made them the richest most powerful country in the world. America had so much money it could lend to Europe after World War I. Mass production, partying in their free time, bootlegging, the Ku Klux Klan, and evolution made up the twentieth century.
The boom in America had a lot to do with mass production. Many products were being mass produced quickly and cheaply thanks to the production line which Henry Ford started in the first of the 1920’s. This invention created a massive boom in the economy because not only could cars be made quickly and cheaply so that people could afford them, other companies copied the production line idea as well. With the soldiers returning from war with months of wages to spend and many new products on the market that was new since their departure for Europe, the economy boomed from the movement of money.
Partying became a big social past time during the 20’s. Before the 20’s people did not throw big lavish parties without having a reason other than wanting to party. This can be seen in the movie, The Great Gatsby, where billionaire Jay Gatsby a fictional character, made up by F. Scott Fitzgerald threw lavish partied every weekend just to party. This was a conflicting way of life from the previous decade where Americans had to constantly work just to stay afloat financially. Now with the wages being higher they could have free time. With the new idea of parting which usually was a sexual multi-ethic type of parties offended the old, native-born, white Protestants forming the Ku Klux Klan. This of course still against blacks, but now also focused on anti-immigration, anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic, anti-Evolution, anti-drinking, and anti-sex which quickly took over several states governments.
The prohibition was a period in the 1920’s when the making and selling of beer and other alcohol illegal. With this new law into place bootlegging became a widespread activity. Bootlegging is the
