Assyrians were well practices and well equipped army. They were ready for battle. The Assyrians began attacking the people that had threatened them before, and they were burning buildings. The Assyrians had earned a reputation of their extreme cruelty.
When 650 B.C came around the Assyrians built a new empire that stretched between the Persian Gulf, the red sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the black sea, and the Caspian Sea. This empire was ruled by a king that lived in Nineveh. Their king chose governors to rule provinces (territorial units) to collect taxes and to maintain order. In 612 B.C. Assyrians capital, Nineveh was surrounded and destroyed by a coalition of Medes, Scythians, and Chaldeans. They had killed off the previous Assyrian empire.
The Assyrian times were divided up into 6 periods: Emergence, First golden Age, first Dark Age, second golden age, second Dark Age, and the Diaspora. The emergence period went from the beginning of time to 2400B.C. in this period of time they developed the fundamentals of their civilization, such as animal domestication, agriculture, and pottery. Between 4500 and 2400 B.C., different communities started to appear informs of cities. They had craft specialization and writing. These features started to spread quickly to other parts of Mesopotamia. Assyria had become large and well
