The rise of christain europe from AD300 to AD800
The start of Islam is marked in the year 610, following the first revelation to the prophet Muhammad at the age of 40. Muhammad and his followers spread the teachings of Islam throughout the Arabian peninsula. Soon after the death of the prophet Muhammad, there were military expeditions, called "futuhat," or literally "openings," into what is now Egypt and other parts of North Africa. In other parts of the world, Islam spread through trade and commerce. The following is a brief timeline that highlights some of the major occurrences in Islam's development, as well as the geographical spread of Islam to some of the countries featured in the film.

. Muhammad was born in Mecca. He came from a noble family and was well-known for his honesty and upright character.. According to Muslim belief, at the age of 40, Muhammad was visited by the angel Gabriel while on retreat in a cave near Mecca. The angel recited to him the first revelations of the Quran and informs him that he was God's prophet. Later, Muhammad was told to call his people to the worship of the one God, but they reacted with hostility and begin to persecute him and his followers.
After enduring persecution in Mecca, Muhammad and his followers migrated to the nearby town of Yathrib (later to be known as Medina), where the people there accepted Islam. This marked the "hijrah" or "emigration," and the beginning of the Islamic calendar. In Medina, Muhammad established an Islamic state based on the laws revealed in the Quran and the inspired guidance came to him from God. Eventually he began to invite other tribes and nations to Islam.
Muhammad returned to Mecca with a large number of his followers. He entered the city peacefully, and eventually all its citizens accepted Islam. The prophet cleared the idols and images out of the Kaaba and rededicates it to the worship of God alone.
Muhammad died after a prolonged illness. The Muslim community elected his father-in-law and close associate, Abu Bakr, as

Muhammad began the new Islamic society, with some help from new verses of the Quran which provided guidance on law and religious observance. The surahs supported his place with the Biblical prophets, but also thought that the message of the Quran was taken from Christianity and Judaism. Meccans and Jewish tribes of the Yathrib area started trying to kill each other. After lots military confrontations and political maneuvers, Muhammad gained control of Mecca and earned the support of the Quraysh tribe in 629. Until his death in 632, chiefs across the peninsula entered into agreements with Muhammad, sometimes under alliance, others, knowing his prophethood, agreed to follow Islamic practices, including giving money to the poor, levy to his government, which consisted of a number of deputies, an army of believers, and a public…

The Islamic religion was founded by a man named Muhammad. Muhammad was born into the most powerful tribe in Mecca, the Quraish, around 570 A.D. When he was forty he started hearing voices and having visions. To clear his mind he would sometimes meditate on Mount Hira, near Mecca. On one of these occasions the archangel Gabriel appeared to him. This was one of the first revelations that became the basis of the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam. This is important because there are still countries and people who practice the Islamic…

According to Malcolm Clark, “Muslims today who want to establish a Muslim state often look to the first Islamic states for models to emulate and for inspiration” (Clark 15). Therefore, to develop an understanding of the Muslim culture, we must review the birth and expansion of Islam. Islam began when the angel Gabriel appeared before Muhammad, telling him that God had declared him as “His last prophet” (Clark 9). This happened in 610 A.D. in Mecca, presently known as Saudi Arabia. Over the course of twenty years, Muhammad spread word of God’s messages, which later became the Qur’an.…

Islam shares more similarities with Christianity than one might think. Both religions believe in only one god with similar traits, the men Moses and Jesus as important figures, and have roots in Judaism. However, Islam also has many differences. The primary figure of Islam is the Prophet Muhammad who received God’s final message through the Archangel Gabriel. Muhammad’s teachings and way of life are included in the Qur’an, which is the Islamic holy book. With the support of his wife and his uncle, Chief Abu Talib, Muhammad avoided persecution from the people of Mecca. After they died, he was forced to leave to the city of Medina due to pressures of polytheistic Meccan merchants that were threatened by his teachings. This move is called the…

The religion of Islam was able to spread by geographic means because trade routes and military campaigns connect its heartland to other areas in the Arabian Peninsula. Muhammad was the first Muslim. He was born in Mecca, a great trade city where the religion of Islam was born. Mecca lies in the center of the Arabian Peninsula and connects both land and sea routes to neighboring empires including the Byzantine Empire and the Persian Empire (A). Islam was able to spread by usage of these trade routes because Muslims could engage with the rest of the world through trade, spreading their ideas and values. Muslim merchants could communicate with others by speaking Arabic (272). A common language allows ideas, including those of Islam, to spread…
