The Role of Government in Policy-Making
The legislative tasks and the overall role of the judiciary in shaping public policy was that the legislative branch main task is to create laws. They apply a variety of subdivisions to collect information in order to decide what the effects of bills will be and if it is a reasonable explanation to the problems. The judicial branch outlines public policy through court cases. Class-Action Suits are mainly effective for determining public policy because they affect a great number of people. Technically, a distinct court case can change public policy forever, such as Brown v. Board of Education, which put an end to school segregation in 1954. Us environmental protection agency is an agency that addresses solid waste issues It is a local nonprofit community assisted program. This agency administers many laws such as the following:
Clean Air Act (CAA)
Clean Water Act (CWA)
Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund)
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) These laws influence the organization’s decision-making and its day-to-day operations because Congress passes the laws that govern the United States, but Congress has also authorized EPA and other federal agencies to help put those laws into effect by creating and enforcing regulations. (US Environmental Protection Agency, 2010) During the 1980s, solid waste management issues formed in the United States due to the spreading number of solid waste produced, making the capacity of the landfill smaller, rising the costs of disposal, and solid dislike to the siting of new solid waste services. This setback was demonstrated by the much- revealed Mobro garbage barge, which journeyed on a six-month odyssey before the garbage was finally disposed of in New York State, where it was originally formed.
