The United Nations defines human trafficking as “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons by means of a threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power, a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation”. Human trafficking, specifically child trafficking, is hard to track. It would shock people to know how easy it is for people to commit and get away with this crime. The primary reason that human trafficking exists, is to generate money. It shows the reality of how any family can be affected by human trafficking and how money has a big role in it- enough to convince an uncle to sell his niece and nephew into slavery. He ends up regretting his decision and tries to reverse the deal, but it is already too late. Dealing in the child trafficking world is dangerous, and he ends up getting himself killed, while the children were most likely still going to be sold into the child trafficking chain. Human trafficking is powerful enough to split families apart, all because of money. The main region in Africa for trafficking victims to be, would be southern Africa. Zimbabwe has become one of the major routes in human trafficking. In most cases, people (usually women and children) are lured to South Africa with the promise of a job, education, even love- only to be sold and sexually exploited.
