Shakespeare’s weird sisters play a vital role in the play, when in the opening scene, they inform the audience that, "fair is foul and foul is fair” thus creating the overall tone and mood of the play. On page 29, Macbeth says, “If change will have me king, why change may crown me.” Macbeth clearly wanted the prophesies from the sisters to be true, thus becoming his own worst enemy. Macbeth’s fatal flaw was his, “vaulting ambition which o’erleaps itself”.
Thus by making reference to the play in its entirety, it can be argued that the weird sisters play an important role in Macbeth as they influence him every step of the way.
