The Role Of Leviticus In The Hebrew Bible

Leviticus is the third book of the Hebrew Bible, also the third book in the Torah. The main points of the book are concerned with Levitical, or priestly worship. In the first section of the book there is a series of laws regarding sacrifices, burnt-offerings, meat, thank, sin and trespass-offerings, followed by the law of the priestly duties in connection with the offering of sacrifices. The Holiness Code of Leviticus was written mostly as a ritual manual for Israel's priests. Christians today are not bound by the rules and rituals described in Leviticus.
