The Issue
In the 1950s the factories of New York city started over dumping waste into the Passaic River. The waste would carry down the river and into the New York Bay. Much of the wildlife was dying including the fish, turtles, and eventually the birds.
The factories didn’t really notice much of it at first, but after awile they started to hear complaints of dead fish floating to the surface. The water was very mucky and the sand was infused with pesticides, PCB’s, and heavy metals.
