There has been a critical decline in morality worldwide. Notably, in American society this diminished morality has been a matter of record since the early 1960s. Sexism, racism nor poverty can be fully held responsible since these things were considered to be a lot worst in the past. Due to the immense material prosperity that in comparison surpasses prior growth of nearly all recorded history. The worldview change experienced in America during the earliest parts of the twentieth century played a major role in the decline of American society. Secular humanism is worldview that has seen much more involvement in recent years. This worldview focuses on the human as a self-made deity. In comparison to the Christian belief structure Secular humanism is dependent on self versus any outside source for its power and sustainability. All fortune, prowess, revelation, direction and preservation are attributed in total to human competence.
ORIGIN …show more content…
For the secular humanist, the Christian God cannot and absolutely doesn’t exist.
Chance, time and matter constitute everything in existence. All things including all creation are a product of this. Man’s observation and empirical verification is what is important for man and anything outside of this is unsubstantiated. In contrast, Christians believe in the biblical explanation of origin. That man was created by a sovereign creator who holds all things within Himself. Biblical text shows that a holy omnipotent God created the heavens and the earth and all things above and below. This is also my belief. Objective materialistic scientist place man at the center of all things and the essence of the idea of origin is that Man not a sovereign God is the determining element which commands ethically behavior, reality and
meaning.
IDENTITY
Secular humanism takes the stance that humans can be ethical and behave morally with no urging from religious urging or an omnipotent godhead. Although secular humanism doesn’t proclaim that humans are naturally evil or born just, nor does it argue in full that the human race is completely superior to nature. The humanist life stance accentuates responsibilities faced by humanity and the free will to make decisions and how those decisions have consequential fallouts. Religious or political viewpoints, as interpreted by secular humanism, must be resolved and investigated fully by scientific fundamentals or human judgment and not just faith based acceptance as it is from a biblical worldview. An essential part of secular humanism is a continually adapting search for truth, using science and philosophy to constantly search the universe for truth is considered an essential part of secular humanism. In contrast, the biblical principles teach us that we should seek first the kingdom of God for the answers we desire and they will be revealed unto us according to the will of God.
MEANING/PURPOSE
For secular humanist, man is considered a highly evolved animal. This perspective leads to a nonchalant view of some human life. It really is not considered to be so precious or a special gifting. This view is often used to support abortion, infanticide or euthanasia among other acts of depravity or violence. This small view on life leads many secular humanists to feel urgency towards materialistic gains before withering off to die before time runs out and existence is no longer viable. On the other hand, Christians believe that humans are created in the image of God and for His purposes. In which case, all life is viewed as precious. The above-referenced acts would all be considered to be horrific sins.
MORALITY
Dealing with morality, Christians realize that people have immense value and worth. The Bible teaches that we are created in the image of God and for His glory. In His glory we are able to find our individual and unique purpose that God has prepared for each human individually. We are made new through belief and faith in Christ. Our sins can be forgiven through repentance. Christians are encouraged to walk in the light of Christ. Love God and love thy neighbor. Secular humanists take quite a contrasting worldview as they see man as essentially good. It is a secular viewpoint that people should feel good about themselves regardless of behavior using self encouragement and validation in order to deal with guilt. The evil actions of man are accredited to a realization that man has a sin nature and have a propensity to do evil things.
DESTINY
The Christian stress self-discipline and faith. After redemption, the saved Christian enjoys a Christian freedom and this is what we are sharing with Christian apologetics to other groups and worldviews. Secular humanist do not believe in the afterlife and feel that man should live according to their own rules as the only destiny they shall face will be in this lifetime. Helping others understand what occurs after death and why is big task for Christian believers nonetheless it is paramount to explain the afterlife and why and how a believing Christian should be elated to celebrated their final reward of heavenly life and being born again.
