They have also fought for better pay, equivalent to men, which is extremely fair. Upon entering the business world, women did not receive fair or equal pay to men. This is called the wage gap. Sexual discrimination and the wage gap in the workplace has been eliminated due to the ending of the wage gap in the early twenty-first century. Federal laws have been passed to help with the elimination of the wage gap and sexual discrimination in the workplace. Sexual discrimination also still occurs in educational environments. Many colleges and universities across the United States of America have a majority of women at their schools. This is also due to the rate in which males are not pursuing higher education. Not only does sexual discrimination affect universities, but also high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools. The schools today have a womanized educational system, which today’s generation has grown up in. Things like affirmative action try to fix the majority problem by choosing people based on sex instead of skill. The Men’s Rights Movement was started in the late twentieth century. Many of the Men’s Rights Activists were former feminists that realized that women are not the only people who were being discriminated against, but also men as well. Some of the people include Paul Elam, Warren Farrell, Erin Pizzey, Mark Angelucci, and Cassie Jaye. Many Men’s Rights Activists fight for various problems that men face every day that often go overlooked. Problems like male deaths at war, from illness, and the age men are dying. Others include equal protection under the law, a fair chance in Family Court, and a voice in “rape culture.”
Many groups allegedly push for equality among the genders, but the only ones that actually do are the Men’s Rights Movement and the Feminist movement. The Men’s Rights Movement is a lesser known group that pushes for awareness of problems that men have. The Feminist movement is probably the best-known group for gender equality. Their platform is that women should have equal rights in comparison to men. Both of these groups rally for equality for all
