(Flynn, 2016) There are the boaters whose class is determined by docks status. This status is determined by money, there are the old dock and gas dock which usually holds the cheaper boats and lower income people even occasionally people’s boats from the town of Portland. This subculture is the most similar to the main subculture, as a result of these population is most similar to the town’s people. We then move on to the finger docks and galley docks which hold the middle-class boats and boat owners. This subculture follows the values of the locals and employees of the Marina and try to be as socialized with their culture as possible. This group of individuals try and befriend the staff and other boaters and make the most of the society around them. We then shift over to the Big docks which are where the largest boats dock, with their upper-class owner’s vacation. These boaters that choose to live by their own society and their own beliefs and values. They are what a counter culture to the rest of us, not as socialized with the people of the marina, because they relax and ignore as everyone does the work around them. The cottager owners are held at by status based on numbers and price of boats. They also are the socialized in the same subcultures; old and gas dock boaters, they come and go throughout the summer and grow friendships as much as the can with the staff of the marina. When it comes to the higher end boat owner’s, they are typically quiet and stick to themselves, just coming to the marina for the soul purpose of getting gas. They usually only every come into real contact when going
