The Role of the Operation Manager in Information System

Multi business community companies are relying on good management, experienced staff and up-to-date information system. The issue on this subject is how to choose and implement a new application suite and the problem of using a new system, which will result in interruption to operation all the time. The task of implementing a new computer systems is huge and complicated, on the other hand, using an old system will cause delay in operation mistakes, inaccurate of reports and company reputation. Midsouth Chamber of Commerce (MSCC) is one of the leading companies; the company’s mission is transportation, industrial development and business taxes all within business community. In 2000s, the company became the most powerful company in the Midsouth region dealing with problems facing the business community.
Leon Lassiter, Vice president of marketing in (MSCC); the greatest problem he faces is the rapid growth in the company activates and mission, using an old information systems in Marketing and Sales Division, the division is using aset of workstations connected to a print system. The division is dealing with membership database, prospective database, database changes, call-record activity and many other small tasks. The division receiving about 80 calls per day that requires database changes, that include invoice processing. Operation division managed by Ed Wilson, the staff are responsible for fund balance, ledger system, accounting, payment history and report generation. Lassiter and Wilson argued on many occasions, for instant; Lassiter believes that all departments must be fully operated, this strategy will reduce the number of staff in the same time, and he believes that a full time system analyst should be haired to update the information system as it is considered old technology. Wilson believes that Lassiter’s recommendation is considered to be additional cost, which is not needed at the time as MSCC has
