Rosa Parks moved over to the window seat. The driver threatened Rosa Parks that he would bring in the police. The law had aforementioned that any black person had to relinquish their seat for any white person who needed a seat. Once Rosa Parks still didn't move the driver brought in the police. She asked the police why they were doing this. The police responded by saying “I don’t know, but the law is
the law and you are under arrest.” Rosa Parks was arrested.
Mr E.D. Richard Nixon posts her bail once he detected that Rosa Parks had been arrested. On Dec 2nd, the black leaders call a meeting and judge to start out a boycott. Martin Luther King Jr. leads the boycott. The boycott is termed Montgomery Bus Boycott. Martin Luther King Jr. tells all the black individuals to prevent occurring buses to figure and instead walk or catch a cab.
The bus drivers’ financial gain came from principally black passengers, so now the bus drivers were losing profit. The boycott lasted for 381 days. Rosa Parks kick started the boycott, which led more boycotts around Alabama, which led to segregation laws to be lifted. Rosa Parks died on October 24th, 2005, aged 92.
Rosa Parks didn’t move because she thought that black people should be treated the same as white people. Rosa Parks' mother was a teacher and believed everyone should have their own rights. Her husband also believed in freedom and equality. She was a member of National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP). All of this influenced Rosa Parks. She is also called the mother of civil rights movement.
